@rjstrikers @WarWraith @Nick_Xenophon It is irrational, because it's wrong. Jesus never said "do this, or I will get Caesar to do it to you". Yet, that's how you've used passage. Jesus is telling an individual to not treasure their wealth, but use their wealth to serve the kingdom. That doesn't mean "welfare state"

@rjstrikers @WarWraith @Nick_Xenophon I didn't know Jesus was advocating the forcible removal of wealth by the state from the rich young ruler. He certainly wasn't advocating that the man voluntary be generous with his assets. Thank you for your in-depth exegesis of the text.

@WarWraith @rjstrikers @Nick_Xenophon Interesting argument: "someone is not doing something we want them to so we should forcibly take their stuff from them and 'redistribute' it". Is that about right? "Thou shalt not steal" mean anything to you? How about "not coveting your neighbours ass"?
