@k8purcellphysio @BillingMartin Too much educational information, if it isn’t targeted to individual needs, can also leave patients feeling overwhelmed. Identifying what someone actually needs to self-manage confidently can be difficult, particularly where there are additional barriers or underserved needs.
@BillingMartin @k8purcellphysio 💯 Martin. I agree. I think the interesting bit is what support people need to make PIFU work. If pain increases after exercise, for example, do they feel confident knowing whether to continue, modify or seek help? And could that uncertainty itself make PIFU harder to use?
@BillingMartin @k8purcellphysio My qualitative work in diverse people with Achilles tendinopathy is revealing some interesting points here. PIFU may work well but identifying individual barriers to rehab and providing tailored support may be key to helping people self manage both between appts and long term

Meniscus surgery (partial menisectomy), 10-year follow-up. It's not good news. And it's not unexpected. Patients who had the surgery were often worse off than patients who didn't. They certainly didn't do better. There are times when surgery might still be useful... read to the end.
