Call for Applications | Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) Essentials Training @Makerere University School of Public Health (MakSPH), through the Alcohol, Drugs, and Addictions Research Centre (ADARC), in partnership with the Foundation for Alcohol Related Research (FARR) and the Africa FASD Network, invites applications for a free two-day training on FASD. The training will build practical knowledge and skills in FASD awareness, identification, diagnosis, management, and prevention for health professionals. Date: Tuesday 28 – Wednesday 29 July 2026 Venue: Resilient Africa Network, MakSPH, Kololo Slots available: 20 Deadline: Monday 13 July 2026 Paediatricians, obstetricians, midwives, public health professionals, psychiatrists, psychologists, general nurses, and related professionals are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have an MBChB, BSc, or related qualification. The training is free of charge, with lunch and refreshments provided. Participants will cover their own transport and accommodation. A world first in tobacco control. The #Maldives has become the first country to enact a nationwide generational tobacco ban, ensuring that anyone born on or after 1 January 2007 can never legally purchase or use tobacco products. But this #landmarkreform goes beyond protecting young people. By ending the tobacco industry's ability to recruit every new generation of customers, the Maldives has taken a bold governance step consistent with #WHOFCTC Article 5.3—removing a long-standing commercial privilege that has sustained the tobacco epidemic for decades. The policy also stands out for its comprehensive approach, covering conventional tobacco products, e-cigarettes and vaping devices, while applying equally to residents, visitors and foreign nationals.
