Your drone stops responding and starts drifting away. What do you do in the first 30 seconds? 🚁
Most people jam the sticks. Wrong move. Figure out WHICH kind of flyaway it is first — lost GPS, lost signal, or losing the fight with the wind.

Registering your drone with the FAA: $5, ~10 minutes, once every 3 years. But the sneaky part — recreational and Part 107 registrations are NOT interchangeable. Register recreationally, take one paid job, and you're not covered.

"400 feet" — but 400 feet above WHAT?
Not sea level. Not where you stand. It's 400 ft above the ground *under your drone* — which changes the second you fly off a cliff. And near an airport, your real ceiling can be 100 ft or less.
The rule, decoded 👇

Storm rolls in mid-shoot — keep flying or land it?
Almost every consumer drone has zero water protection. Rain shorts the electronics in seconds — and it's usually not covered by warranty.
What rain really does + how to plan around it

Quick quiz: can you legally fly over the crowd at a concert? Only if your drone is Category 1 or 2.
Category 3 drones can fly over people — but NOT over open-air assemblies. So the exact crowd shot you wanted is off the table. Know your category before you take the job.

"You can't fly over my property!"
Actually... you usually can. Homeowners don't own the airspace above their yard — the FAA does.
But it's not a free pass: privacy laws, where you launch, and reckless flying still apply. Fly over, not into people's lives.#Part107#dronepilot
Myth: "You have to stay 5 miles from any airport to fly your drone." 🛑Nope. That rule died years ago.
What actually matters is the airspace class where you're standing — controlled needs LAANC authorization, uncontrolled is open. Distance isn't the rule.

Hot day flying? Your drone is quietly weaker than it looks. 🥵
Hot, high, humid air is thinner — so your props make less lift, your climb goes sluggish, and your flight time drops. Same drone, worse performance.
Plan for it before you launch.

Wildfire smoke can ground you — legally — even on a "clear-looking" day. 🌫️
Part 107 needs 3 miles of visibility. Smoke quietly eats it before the sky ever looks bad.
Check your actual visibility, not just the vibe, before you launch.#Part107#dronepilot#LAANC#drones#faadrones
Would you fly in this? 🟢 or 🔴
I guarantee this splits the room. Drop your call 👇
And be honest — what's the wind speed where YOU always call it off?

Drone pilots — do you know when your FAA stuff expires?
Part 107 currency → every 24 months Drone registration → every 3 years Reminders the FAA sends → zero
A lapse you never noticed still makes your flight illegal. Don't get caught 👇

New in PreFlight 107: an AI Risk Assessment that reads your exact conditions and gives you a plain-English go/no-go in seconds — reasoning + mitigations included. No other drone app has this. Beta testers are flying with it now. 🚁#dronepilot#Part107#drones#LAANC
Be honest: what's the ONE condition that makes you scrub a flight — even when everything else looks good?
Gusts? Low ceiling? A fresh TFR? That gut feeling?
Every good pilot has a line they won't cross. What's yours? 👇

Your drone isn't getting weaker on hot days the air is getting thinner. Heat + elevation + humidity = "density altitude" Less lift, shorter flights, mushier handling, and it hides until you need the margin you lost.Plan for it 👇 preflight107.com/blog/density-a…#dronepilot#dronelife
Can you fly a drone at night? Since 2021, yes — no waiver needed. You just need 2 things: night training + an anti-collision strobe visible for 3 miles. 🌃
