It makes total sense because this was all about shifting private debt to fund corporations onto the federal "taxpayer." Of note is that the UNTED STATES, that is the federal government not the Republic, had a default in 1933. They confiscated the People's gold and issued instead federal reserve notes. They made it "illegal" to hold gold or silver bullion. So now after getting everyone in the federal jurisdiction, and 100 years after confiscating the gold, they sell the gold that they stole from the American People back to them in the form of a "bond." This is because the fiat system has run its course as everyone knew that it would. This is how the corporate oligarchs created their vast empires at the expense of the public for private gain by offloading their debt onto the UNITED STATES federal government, while capturing the wealth through federal contracts. The "defense" industry is the best example. Now after the Nixon Shock, one can hold bullion again. Note that these moves were unconstitutional because neither Article I Section 8 Clause 5, nor Article I Section 10 were changed or struck or altered by the only methods for amending the Constitution found in Article V. A statute or "act of Congress" cannot alter the Constitution. However, within UNITED STATES federal jurisdiction, i.e. the District of Columbia, federal territories and such, Congress has plenary power. So in a federal jurisdiction, 14th Amendment, Congress can make such moves, but not in the Republic. Citizens in the Republic as per Article IV Section 2, are in the Republic and are above Congress; but federal citizens are not in the Republic and under Congress. See Jones v. Temmer for judge's explanation. Hence the the gold has served its purpose to those who sole the wealth of a Nation. Private wealth paid for by the public.

@KingKong9888 Something like this makes total sense to me. Many of us have thought for some time now that they would "re-value" the gold they carry on their balance sheet without and "official" revaluing. Simply providing a mechanism to "mark to market" accomplishes that.

If your answer is accurate then it confirms my thesis that we possibly just exchange one precious metals manipulator for another. Since the mid-19th century London has fixed the prices of gold and silver. Of course after the Nixon Shock the COMEX was devised as an instrument to control important commodities prices such as gold, silver, and oil by introducing enough volatility as to discourage investors from holding certain commodities in physical form. So we perhaps exchange the London overlord for the CCP as the overlord for price, hence still no real price discovery by a real market. Or even the CCP has to bow to the fact that silver just isn't coming out of the ground fast enough. Which wins? A real market, or a single entity manipulating price to its own end?
