If you, your children, or your pets are having difficulty adjusting to the end of Daylight Savings Time, you are not alone. Disruption in sleep, as well as mood changes, can occur. Increasing your exposure to natural light through extra time outside during daylight hours, or even near windows may help with the adjustment. healthline.com/health-news/da…

The fall is here. Leaves are falling, there is a chill in the air, and the sun is setting earlier. It's important to find time during the day for outdoor breaks to get some sunlight and fresh air. Even short breaks outside during daylight hours can be beneficial for mood. The hard part? Going back inside after a fun outdoor break!
Playtime is time well spent! There are many physical and cognitive benefits. We see this in the animal world where puppies learn from each other during their unstructured playtime, and they end up both cognitively and physically tired after a puppy playdate. This is not dissimilar from children. Free play with peers is not only fun, but serves an important role in developing social skills, building confidence, and much more. Free play allows children to explore, be creative, and learn how to engage with others without the structure of a classroom. Adults often forget to make time for play, but they can also benefit from taking time for unstructured enjoyable activities as well.

It is important to engage children and adolescents in various activities that do not involve electronics/screen time. Enjoying sports, crafts, and other activities can not only help them gain a variety of skills, but stepping away from electronics can also improve mental health. This is not only true for children, but also adults. Making a concerted effort each day to take time away from screens is beneficial for everyone.
Report suggests that decreasing screen time in children and adolescents even briefly may have a positive effect on their mental health and their interactions with others. ow.ly/Gwzi50TEu7U
Today is World Mental Health Day. Today serves as a good reminder to evaluate your own self-care. In order to care for others, you also need to make sure you are taking time to care for yourself. Take a few moments each day to reflect on how you are feeling and what makes you smile or improves your mood. Whether it is time outside, socializing with friends or family, thinking about past trips, planning your next adventure, or something else entirely, try to find more time each day to enjoy those positive thoughts and experiences.
