It's that time again when those of you who are brave/mad enough to sing outside in the freezing rain* get the chance to do so! That's right, we're putting on another #PDtPXmas extravaganza at the Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree on Dec.24th! Details here: polyphonydownthepub.com/2023/11/30/chr…

@cabbagepatch66 Manchester is top of my list for trying to get something going outside of London as it was such a great night. Let's see if we can make something happen!

TIL that if you sing in the rain for 75 mins your music folder will end up resembling an ancient palimpsest! Huge thanks to the heroic singers who braved the non-stop downpour & brought seasonal splendour to the crowds at Trafalgar Square, making lots of money for good causes!

Would have loved it - but anchored in South Wales. If that applies to anyone else, can I suggest an alternative evening’s musical entertainment?

@RuthElleson Thanks, Ruth - let's hope our singers don't make themselves hoarse cheering on England's victory at the Final beforehand!

Should’ve been singing with this lovely lot tonight, but (as I mentioned a couple of days ago) it’s been cancelled - but you can still make donations to @ChoirwithNoName who we would have been collecting for.

3/3 We'd therefore like to ask all our friends & followers to consider making a donation: choirwithnoname.org/get-involved/d… Again, hugely disappointing not to be bringing Palestrina, Victoria & Bodenschatz to Londoners but your donations will mean something good comes out of it! Cheers!

@PubPolyphony @ChoirwithNoName Sensible decision but how disappointing for you all! Hope you can sing out again soon. (PS how the bleedin’ hell did you get 16 tenors?were you offering free beer?)

@PubPolyphony It's only because you weren't offering gin that you were short of altos, of course

No word of a lie. We were at the point where if any more had volunteered we'd have had to turn them away!

@PubPolyphony @ChoirwithNoName WHAT IS THIS '16 TENORS' THAT YOU SPEAK OF? I SUSPECT WITCHCRAFT.

I think we would've been all right as I was going to ask some of them to help out the altos...

Gordon Woods @sjoh0050

@PubPolyphony @ChoirwithNoName 16 tenors would surely have made the choir unstable like certain nuclear isotopes with too many neutrons.

2/3 @ChoirwithNoName does amazing work helping homeless & other marginalised people through the joy of singing. We've collected 100s of £s for them over the years & wanted to do so again this year but like so many others our plans have been thwarted by this ongoing crisis.

1\3 Very sorry to report that we've had to withdraw from Thursday's carols. Huge thnx to the 90 singers (90! incl. 16 tenors!) who had volunteered to sing & sorry to disappoint you all. Gutting not least because we wanted to raise money for our chosen charity @ChoirwithNoName.
