Cooking sessions change how children see themselves. Some children arrive hesitant at first - not sure what to expect and doubting their capability. But they always leave proud of something they created. Often confidence starts with something as simple as a bowl and a spoon!

This week in cooking club, we’re baking gingerbread biscuits… simple, hands-on, and full of that cosy, spiced smell 🤎 The children will be learning the rubbing-in method, rolling out their dough and cutting their own shapes. A lovely traditional bake! #puddingandpie

This week at Pudding & Pie we’re going a little bonkers for bananas! 🍌 The children will be developing fine motor skills while mashing bananas for our delicious Bonkers Banana Bread. A brilliant recipe for building confidence in the kitchen while learning new skills. 💛

Less pressure around food 😌 We remove pressure from eating. No forcing. No bribing. Just encouragement and repeated exposure in a positive environment. This week one of our nurseries couldn’t believe a 3 year old in their setting tried some grated carrot and courgette! 🥕🥒

Schools love having Pudding & Pie because they see the impact long after the session ends. Children return to class more confident and excited to share what they’ve created. They build independence, teamwork, and resilience without even realising it. It’s more than a club!

Some children don’t need convincing to eat — they need connecting. Because fussy eating isn’t just about food. It’s about confidence, curiosity and comfort. There’s no pressure, no “just one bite.” Just the joy of creating something with their own hands 🙌 #foodconfidence

Cooking is a safe space for children to get messy, to try something new, and to realise there’s no “wrong way” to explore. There’s no grade, no score, no rush – just the joy of creating something to feel proud of. Here’s to many more messy hands and cheeky helpers, ✨😆
