Iran Lego - Mother’s Tears. Powerful! This is honestly one of the most powerful music videos I have ever seen. Yes, it is AI. But if it had been released by one of the current biggest stars manufactured and controlled by Hollywood executives, it would be Grammy-winning (or whatever the highest accolade in the music industry is these days). It speaks truth. Human truths we all understand if we are given half a chance. Instead we are lied to. Told that these people are our mortal enemy, and that dead Iranian children are just collateral damage. If you listen to the words (like really listen) and allow yourself, even for a moment, to remember that these are people (living, breathing, feeling people) it should hit you right in the bottom of the throat. It paints the Iranians as the fellow humans they so obviously are, the very thing the propaganda machine would rather we forget. It is the story of mothers’ tears. Mother’s tears for Iranian children, and mother’s tears for the American servicemen fighting wars of aggression on behalf of Israel. No soft language. No patriotic gloss. Just the human cost staring back at us from the screen. It speaks about how Iranians love American culture (the music, the movies, the TV shows) and how that culture is as much a part of them as it is of the American people. That part really resonated with me. I run a business based in London that operates across the Middle East. These are some of the kindest people I have ever known, and they have faced endless hardship at the hands of US foreign policy conducted on behalf of Israel. Right now the future of everything they have built (families, homes, businesses) is uncertain. They know it. They feel it. And yet they still dream of one day seeing the Empire State Building. Their children listen to Taylor Swift. And every Saturday they queue at the cinemas to watch the latest American blockbuster (with the swearing, sexual references, violence and sex carefully edited out, and rightly so) as a family. I know they grow up loving America, imagining they might one day be Spider-Man, longing to visit Disneyland, or when they are older they dream of one day walking on 5th Avenue or through Central Park, because we all do. The whole world does. At a deeper level we do not truly separate Americans from ourselves. We absorb you into our own identities. And that is just as true in the Middle East, and it must be true in Iran. That was the saddest part, for me. Somewhere there are children and grown ups alike quietly wondering what they could possibly have done to deserve being reduced to little more than collateral damage.

@dadiani_george Yes, powerful and real. I have been hungry for voices that see the common humanity of our “enemies”. So much noise on X. This is true Heart. The threat I saw the fracturing in fracturing that leaves people in their frightened corners. HERE may people of Goodwill hold hands.

Scott, this stunned me like you opened owned and helped to heal the wound. I had heard a little bit of the two sides. I should say that I have skin in the game and I’m not not proficient at getting getting all the characters that I want. One of my relatives was part of the occupation stationed in Nagasaki with a terrible responsibility. I have investigated each person you have quoted. There is a connection between so many of these people and my relative. And I have long loved Takashi Nagai. The wound is how could my country do this? Takashi is amazing and he could say what he said from a Japanese point of view, and a Christian point of view, and he would have a point. He would accept it for the peace it brought. In the history of Christianity is that God can bring good out of evil. But his statement never have worked to wash away the evil thing we did even if we didn’t fully understand what you have given me is that there were many men speaking out against it before and after. Truman might have slept soundly as a pragmatic, but he was surrounded by people who were speaking up. No that doesn’t take away what happened or what might happen, but the voice of this man reminds me that we are never just one thing. And perhaps every voice does matter. One man jumped out at me in a unique way. Admiral Leahy who was the military chief of staff to determine. As a soldier like many who knew that it was immoral and he spoke up honestly to Truman, and a soldier who had a great sense of loyalty to the commander and chief. He lived inside of being torn between the two things. I would never want to be in that position, but I really respect with the man. The number of people that were not part of the decision and barely told about it is inexplicable. Absolutely we are condemned to repeat history and this piece of history is so much needed.
