It is therefore not enough to ask whether an activity is well organized, well attended, or has been running for many years. I watched the whole interview of Rory Stewart with Gove and thought generally he had some sensible points but I literally gasped when he said the rape of children in Bradford was irrelevant and in the past. I thought to myself- now there’s a person who never lived in Bradford. A breathtaking tragedy which makes this attitude galling.

Haha this really made me chuckle Aaron! Indeed. I remember joining the Pride marches in London in 2000-2005 as we sought the civil partnership legislation that would change our lives and protections. Looking back now it was all so earnest and decent and measured. My partner and I could not guarantee being able to live in the same country until that law passed. I was a big supporter of Stonewall at the time. Not a single furry or dog mask as I recall!

@DadRogd This is such an interesting question. I was too young and apolitical to be aware of broader views of Section 28 beyond being a Bad Thing. With my current perspective I can see that there may well have been upside. Thanks for raising it as it’s something I’ve never considered.
