It gets locked up to guarantee things that settle later, like payments and credit, and it has been securing payments since 2020. More at amp.xyz. My first crypto purchase at a register was in 2019, right after Consensus. I paid with ETH for movie tickets and a beer at an AMC theater through Flexa (@flexahq), and it went straight from my wallet to the point of sale. This was before DeFi summer, so most people I told about it had never seen anything like it. Since 2020, ethereum:0xff20817765cb7f73d4bde2e66e067e58d11095c2 has been the collateral behind payments like that one. That is still the main way it gets used. Crypto wallets use Flexa so their users can pay in stores, and ethereum:0xff20817765cb7f73d4bde2e66e067e58d11095c2 is the collateral behind every Flexa payment. It is also an accepted asset for Anvil (@anvil_xyz) letters of credit, a separate product that uses collateral up front for something that settles later. On the Flexa side, you can pay at Chipotle, GameStop, Regal, Sheetz, Barnes & Noble, Ulta Beauty, and more. The ethereum:0xff20817765cb7f73d4bde2e66e067e58d11095c2 collateral is what lets those payments go through instantly at the register. If you want to see it in real life, there are videos of people paying at spenders.xyz. The collateral comes from staking. About 20 billion ethereum:0xff20817765cb7f73d4bde2e66e067e58d11095c2 (as of today) is staked across 20 pools. Each pool backs payments from one app or network, so stakers pick which one they want to support. The contract was audited before launch by ConsenSys Diligence and Trail of Bits. The code is open source and verified on Etherscan, and there is a public Dune dashboard at dune.com/ampdotxyz/amp-… if you want to look at the numbers yourself. Anyone can build with ethereum:0xff20817765cb7f73d4bde2e66e067e58d11095c2. Flexa and Anvil are both live today, and any project can use ethereum:0xff20817765cb7f73d4bde2e66e067e58d11095c2 to secure something it settles later. Final (@usefinal) is the next one building on it, with new infrastructure for machines moving money.
