VE4WPG repeater Due to a continuous noise issue on this Repeater, it will be set to standalone mode only and not connected to the All-Star Manitoba link system. Until we can get in and install additional filtering.
New Meshcore repeater built tonight at Tech night. It is currently being tested on air at the WSC until we can get it in an outdoor weatherproof enclosure with power or solar. Look for VA4RAM Repeater-1 Frequency 910.525 Spread Factor 7 Code rate 5 Bandwidwith 62.5

Due to a last-minute cancellation by ISED, Andrew, VE4KL, will be giving a presentation titled “LoRa in Amateur Radio.” He’ll discuss LoRa, MeshCore, Meshtastic, APRS over LoRa, and TinyGS satellite ground stations
RAM Winter Field Day 2026 Radio Amateurs of Manitoba will be operating Winter Field Day at the WSC clubhouse All RAM and VE4WSC members are invited to attend and participate Saturday, January 24 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM VE4WSC Clubhouse (Old Firehall) 598 St. Mary’s Road
Unfortunately, the Winnipeg police community services can not attend and make a presentation at the RAM meeting January 12. In its place the tech crew will explain what we have done. And what’s coming up in 2026
The VE4WPG & VE4ACX repeaters have been having an issue connecting and passing audio this last week. An error was found in the AllStar configuration file possible this was caused by WRT package updates being applied. caused one node to not be able to register.

The callsign of the VE4VJ repeater has been changed to VE4ACX to honour Yori Tsuji. Listen for the CW ID. Status pages & web pages will be changed shortly.
Last week we were told by VE4CA that the door blew in on out radio shack at the VE4EMB repeater site. Today VE4KL & VE4HAY drive out and installed a plywood door over the tin doors. 1:20 drive each way for 30 minutes of work
Today we visited the Osborne site to replace a loose bolt in the VHF antenna for VE4WRS. Also replaced the 5ghz radio to St James so we have redundant connections to VA4STC. A spare 5ghz link was repointed towards Marion so we can establish a connection between the two sites.
On Friday the tech crew visited Les.net to replace the 3.5ghz link radio and re-established connectivity to the Marion site. With this work complete the site is ready to install equipment over winter and bring it online.
RAM has now scheduled the next basic radio course, starting January 10th - March 28. For more information check the education tab on the Ramb.ca website If you have friends that are interested in your HAM radio hobby. Steer them to the course.
The new VE4SOU repeater in Souris,MB is on the air & connected to the AllStar network. Please have a chat when you hear hams using that repeater.

Tech crew went out to VE4MIL and replaced some cables & power supply, to reduce stray RFI from sneaking in.
Tech crew stopped off at VE4EMB to adjust some settings that should stop the double beep issue. And reconnected the repeater to the hub.
Hydro failure again in the north Osborne area. This is affecting network connections to VE4WDR & VA4STC. Hydro expects power to be restored around 20:30 this evening.
