Hayden Panettiere said that after 10 YEARS representing Neutrogena, the company wanted to fire her after she publicly admitted she was suffering from postpartum depression. Her representative reportedly stopped them from firing her then but then they simply didn't renew her contract at the end of the year. A woman talked openly about a postpartum mental-health condition and THAT somehow violated their idea of “morality.”. And we wonder why women are afraid to admit they're struggling. I've spent a lot of time talking about Lindsay Clancy and the catastrophic consequences that can follow when postpartum mental illness isn't understood or adequately addressed. Hayden deserved support. Lindsay deserved competent care. Women deserve to be able to say "I'm not okay" without being treated like they've committed some moral failure. Neutrogena is now owned by Kenvue, whose brands include Aveeno, Tylenol, Band-Aid, Listerine, Johnson's, Benadryl, Zyrtec, Motrin, OGX, Rogaine, Neosporin, Clean & Clear, Lubriderm, Pepcid, Imodium and more. Postpartum depression isn't immoral. Punishing a woman for talking about it is reprehensible.
