The Haircut That Taught Me Grace Today I had a haircut, however, a not so pleasant scene happened. I first explained to the stylist what I had in mind and showed him a picture. Somehow, he followed to a great extent what the picture showed, neglecting other important details I earlier communicated to him. I became unhappy and for a moment, we disagreed. I could tell the stylist felt uncomfortable. Eventually, I decided to trust him and let him do his work. At first, I wasn’t completely satisfied, but for his dedication and carefulness throughout the process, I had to trust him to finish well. When he was done, the result actually looked really good. My partner that was with me had a satisfying admiration for the new look and esteemed it over other styles I have had in the past. But here is the catch, I felt bad afterward because I made him feel incompetent over a simple misunderstanding. But the lesson was not lost on me. I learnt to: - be calm when things go wrong, solutions are not found in chaos - communicate effectively and ensure appreciable understanding is attained in any situation if you want the best outcome - never make someone feel small because of a misunderstanding - grace and patience often bring out the best in people
