The difference: The upsetting things said by Trump and Vance are not true. The upsetting things said about Trump and Vance are true. Trump really did mount a violent coup against the Constitution. He and his relatives really did take bribes in office, including from foreign governments. He really was helped into power by Russian espionage agencies. He really did steal secret documents from the US government after his election defeat. And Vance really did, and by his own admission, intentionally "create stories" for political advantage that put residents of his state at risk of physical harm.

@FreckledLiberty Women are not items on a shelf waiting to be "chosen" by a man. Women who build their own careers and lives are not going "choose" a man who wants a servant or a sycophant. They're looking for a worthy partner and are willing and able to wait for it.

@hookskat Spent 15 years in a "maybe god is love" phase. Then when nearly every evangelical christian I knew in 2016 supported Trump, I realized how very far otherwise good people could be misled. Its like the curtain dropped and there was nothing behind it. It had been phony all along.

@ranmthek @PastorBenMarsh Absolutely. Jesus was a bit too liberal - especially the whole Sermon on the Mount and turn-the-other-cheek stuff - rather inconvenient actually. Paul's more the law-and-order guy - just a better fit for southern baptist culture.

@PastorBenMarsh As a teen, the gap between the way people in my southern baptist church talked about missions vs the way they talked about and treated immigrants in our community was maybe the first sign I noticed that they werent' actually very interested in the Jesus of the gospels.

@RussNRoses @darwintojesus I observe a similar ratio for apologists, and would argue that twitter is not random sample of either group. Twitter is sphere of those seeking confirmation of their current views, and is generally a waste of time for those seeking honest discussion.

@GraceOkoro2 @WonderKing82 Absolutely. I've lost my southern accent after years away from south GA, but my husband knows immediately when I'm on the phone with family from back home. It comes back thick and I don't even realize it. And I would never speak that way at work.

4 killed, 9 injured at Apalachee High yesterday, but the blast radius is much larger. Even a county over, my 12yo could not sleep last night and could barely get on the bus this morning. I can't fathom the trauma to kids and teachers who were actually at the school.

@johnastoehr Same amt in GA - same houses. MAGAs are still MAGAs. But much fewer political posts from non-Trumper conservative friends. Even a few posts supporting abortion rights from conservative women I would never have expected it from - quite brave in their social circle.
