Ernesto Igartua, a researcher at @EEAD_CSIC and coordinator of the RecoBar project, participated in a roundtable discussion at the Microbiome2025 conference in Córdoba, Spain, where the role of the microbiota in agriculture was discussed and the project was presented.

The Recobar project continues to grow with new collaborations, such as that of researcher David Gómez-Candón (EEAD-CSIC), who evaluated the severity of fungal infections in barley using multispectral data from drone flights in the NAM field trial. recobar.eu

The RecoBar project is reaching the final stretch of field trials with harvests from its trials in Spain, Italy, Turkey, and Ireland. recobar.eu

The @EEAD_CSIC has finished collecting rhizosphere samples from the field trials in Spain. As part of the RecoBar project, the rhizosphere microbiome of six varieties tested in five locations—two of which were sampled during two seasons—will be analyzed at @ucddublin in Ireland.

Davide Guerra, researcher at the Centre for Genomics and Bioinformatics (Fiorenzuola d'Arda, Italy) of the CREA, and RecoBar partner, has conducted a research stay at the Aula Dei Experimental Station (EEAD-CSIC, Zaragoza, Spain) to study the stomatal density in barley.

Last week, the International Barley Hub (Dundee, Scotland) hosted the third annual RecoBar project (recobar.eu) progress meeting and the Barley Genome Net 2025 conference. Researchers from around the world gathered to present the most innovative barley research.

The International Barley Hub (barleyhub.org), a James Hutton Institute innovation centre in Dundee (Scotland), will host the meetings of our RecoBar project (recobar.eu), the Best-Crop project (bestcrop.eu), and BarleyGenomeNet 2025.
