I understand what we want to do, but 3 transactions between 5 clubs all for well-rounded central midfielders approaching / in their prime ends up creating a new set of transaction comps and therefore a new baseline for the “value for money” you describe. Those transaction comps will influence any other prem to prem deals that take place for similar players, like we saw happen with wide players last summer. Even the “Bracket A / B” etc prices that you’re describing are based on last summer’s transaction comps. When a few similar transactions get done in a window that changes. Also if Anderson (presumably in your Bracket A for quality) went for £116m+ and MF + Tonali go for £85m and £92.5m respectively, then actually it seems like Spurs have paid bracket b prices for bracket b players. Bracket B prices in 2026 just look more similar to Bracket A in 2025.
