If this report is true, Trump official Michael Boren is using the U.S. Forest Service as his personal firefighting force, and is abusing his position. According to The Washington Post, about a month ago, a small fire broke out in Idaho’s Sawtooth National Forest. It was responded to, but it received a far greater response than a fire of that scale typically warrants and did not pose a significant threat to life or property. The reason? Boren requested additional aircraft to fight the fire. It turns out the fire was near his Idaho mega-ranch. He interfered with and succeeded in influencing the firefighting operations of the U.S. Forest Service. The Post also reports that aircraft appear to have been diverted from other firefighting efforts across the state. His actions may have put other firefighting operations at risk.
