The media don’t want you to know the full story about the Par Beach Huts Cornwall Council wasted £125,000 of your money on beach huts that sat unused for years. When Reform UK councillor Ian Wilson tried to save them, he offered to manage the huts himself for free and even pay the public liability insurance out of his own pocket. Here is his full statement which the left-wing media chose not to share: “I am disappointed that the Beach Huts were taken away, as I spent a lot of Time and effort trying to get them used. Now, I appreciate they were not everybody’s ‘cup of tea’, but when I became Cornwall Councillor for Par in 2025, the huts were already built; bought and paid for by council taxpayers. It made sense to get them used. They had sat for around five years, unused and neglected without so much as being cleaned, and had already started to deteriorate. I tried to set them up as a beach style marketplace, where local arts and crafts, and produce could be displayed and sold. I had local artisans who were interested, and lined up to use a few of the huts. The hope being, that once up and running others would be encouraged to join in. I offered to manage the huts myself, free of charge as a volunteer, and pay for the public liability Insurance required by Cornwall Council personally. I had a quote ready to go. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t get past Cornwall Council’s internal bureaucracy and had to concede and give up. In hindsight, with the increasing vandalism inflicted on the huts and elsewhere on Par beach, over recent months, maybe it’s best they are gone after all. It is still disappointing though, this has wasted at least £125,000 of taxpayers’ money and no doubt nobody will ever be held accountable.” He lined up local artisans. He fought the bureaucracy for months. Yet when the huts were finally ripped out, the left-leaning local media barely mentioned his efforts. Instead, they leaned on the council’s excuses and soft-pedalled the waste. This is how the narrative is controlled. The hard work of Reform councillors is airbrushed out, while the council’s failures are quietly excused. Taxpayers’ money wasted. Accountability avoided. Does Labour Hate British Women? David Lammy’s Ministry of Justice is in court right now desperately trying to bury the truth about migrant crime against our women and girls. They are fighting tooth and nail to hide the full breakdown by nationality of convictions for rape, child sex abuse, murder and savage violence. This is another disgusting, deliberate cover-up. Foreign nationals at 11% of the population are convicted of up to a third of all sexual assaults on women and a quarter of all rapes. Their offending rate is more than double that of British men, with certain nationalities committing these horrors at shocking multiples. Cornwall’s housing stock is being steadily bought up by outsiders who turn former family homes into holiday lets and second homes. The money generated often leaves the county, while local wages can no longer support home ownership for young Cornish families. Cornwall now has around 14,000 registered second homes and over 21,000 properties used as holiday lets or second homes. In some coastal areas, they make up 30–40% of the housing stock. This has driven prices so high that young Cornish people are forced into expensive shared ownership schemes or simply leave. Thousands of young adults are lost to the county each year; no jobs, no affordable homes, no future. Fowey, St Ives, Polperro, Port Isaac, St Mawes are some examples; house after house with key code boxes. Communities that once thrived with young families, strong cohesive communities and a real sense of belonging. Now those same streets are increasingly filled with second homes and holiday lets, while local young people are forced to leave in search of somewhere they can afford to live, away from their families and their support networks. Families are being torn apart. Communities are being diluted. Reform’s policies for securing borders, supporting local industries, and building homes with proper infrastructure all aim to reverse this trend. 📢 A new Free Speech Bill has been proposed. Barrister Jon Holbrook, a member of the Free Speech Union's Legal Advisory Council, has published an important report for the Prosperity Institute charting the decline of free speech in Britain and setting out a five-point Free Speech Bill to reverse it. Jon argues that the expansion of vaguely defined speech offences — using terms such as "grossly offensive", "abusive", "insulting" and "stirring up" — has handed governments sweeping powers to decide what people can and cannot say. His proposed Bill would repeal Section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986, abolish laws based on the concept of non-violent "hate speech", and restore the principle that free speech protects not only popular opinions, but also those that are contentious, provocative and unwelcome. As Lord Frost writes in the foreword: "The chilling effect falls on all of us." This is a welcome intervention as we fight to defend our right to freedom of speech in the UK.
