🫶The European Registry of Cardiac Arrest (EuReCa) is a project initiated in 2007 by the European Resuscitation Council (ERC). It aims to promote cooperation among resuscitation registries across Europe in order to enhance the detection and analysis of cardiac arrests throughout the continent. ✅Now, a new study has been published in the Resuscitation journal, European Registry of Cardiac Arrest Study Three (EuReCa- THREE) – EMS response time influence on outcome in Europe. 💙Throughout Europe, there are important differences in the structure and characteristics of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and their response to out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). ⭐ Exciting news⭐ 📌 European legislation will require all new drivers across the region to complete first aid and CPR training as part of their driver’s education and theory test. This decision is a massive step forward in preparing drivers for emergency scenarios on the road and beyond. 💯 The European Parliament’s Transport Committee adopted the provisional agreement on the Driving License Directive on 15 May, which includes this lifesaving requirement. 📅 What’s next? ✅ The agreement now moves to the European Parliament’s Plenary and the Council for a final vote, before being officially adopted in the Official Journal of the EU. What this person is describing is essentially the previous system, which was instituted by Labour and largely meant that training posts were filled by UK medical graduates first, and only after that offered to IMGs. 1/3.

Call me Farage or whatever but only after the 12,743 posts have been filled by the 10,628 British medical graduates should it then be opened up to the world for the rest! What kind of country is this where we’re stabbing our own bright young ppl in the back?

@gareth_grier I completely agree. Maybe the next step in emergency care is actually having a classification system that goes to the nth degree (not just ISS scoring etc). Once we can classify things with confidence, we can start distinguishing which interventions were useful for said thing.

@gareth_grier Maybe a good study design would be looking at adrenaline and survival outcomes for patients with a certain mechanism of injury causing the traumatic cardiac arrest. E.g Head injury being the main cause and seeing the outcomes for just that?

Another NHS doctor leaving after just ONE years’ service to work in Australia. This really isn’t a good return on investment for the UK taxpayer, but poor conditions, pay and dysfunctional speciality training processes/competition ratios is only going to make this more common.

I’m a doctor. I completed 6 years at medical school, followed by 2 foundation years, working hard jumping hoops and even then wasn’t able to get an anaesthetic job. Tell me more about how people without medical degrees feel hard done by without having had to do the same graft.
