Vor etwa einem Jahr habe ich nach so etwas wie einem „Great Replacement Tracker“ gesucht – einer Website, die die relevanten demografischen Daten zur westlichen Welt an einem Ort zusammenführt und sichtbar macht, wie weit diese Entwicklung tatsächlich fortgeschritten ist. Zu meiner Überraschung gab es nichts Vergleichbares. Also habe ich vor einem halben Jahr beschlossen, selbst einen solchen Tracker zu entwickeln. Heute stelle ich die erste öffentlich zugängliche Version der Great Replacement Clock vor. Sie zeigt, wie sich der Anteil europäischstämmiger Menschen an der Weltbevölkerung sowie an der Bevölkerung von 45 historisch mehrheitlich europäisch geprägten Ländern entwickelt. Historische Daten und modellierte Projektionen werden dafür auf einer einzigen interaktiven Zeitleiste zusammengeführt – mit Quellen belegt, überprüfbar und methodisch transparent. Verlässliche Daten über die ethnische Zusammensetzung der Bevölkerung sind in westlichen Ländern nur schwer zugänglich. Kein Land erfasst unmittelbar, welcher Anteil seiner Bevölkerung europäischer Abstammung ist. Mehrere Staaten verbieten oder beschränken die Erhebung solcher Daten ausdrücklich. Das französische Verbot ethnischer Statistiken ist das bekannteste, aber bei Weitem nicht das einzige Beispiel. In anderen Ländern erschweren wechselnde Zensuskategorien und Aggregationsmethoden, die wesentliche Unterschiede verwischen, den Blick auf langfristige Entwicklungen. Dabei treten immer wieder dieselben Probleme bei Erfassung und Zuordnung auf: Bevölkerungsgruppen aus dem Nahen Osten und Nordafrika werden der Kategorie „weiß“ zugeordnet, Einwanderer der zweiten oder dritten Generation als „Einheimische“ gezählt und europäische Zuwanderer in anderen europäischen Ländern lediglich als „Ausländer“ erfasst. Die USA sind dafür ein gutes Beispiel: Noch bei der Volkszählung von 2020 wurden Menschen aus dem Nahen Osten und Nordafrika nach den geltenden Bundesstandards als weiß eingestuft. So entsteht ein Informationsumfeld, in dem einige der folgenreichsten Tatsachen über die Entwicklung westlicher Gesellschaften zugleich besonders schwer präzise zu belegen sind. Dieses Projekt soll diese Lücke schließen. Es stützt sich auf die besten verfügbaren demografischen Daten, um den Anteil der europäischstämmigen Bevölkerung jedes Landes im Zeitverlauf zu rekonstruieren – anhand einer Definition, die über Länder und Epochen hinweg einheitlich angewandt wird. Die Quellen, Annahmen und Anpassungen, die den einzelnen Zahlen zugrunde liegen, sind öffentlich einsehbar und können überprüft werden. Dies ist eine erste Version. Wenn euch eine Zahl fragwürdig erscheint, weist bitte darauf hin. Rückmeldungen und Beiträge sind ausdrücklich willkommen. Das Projekt soll mit der Zeit immer genauer und umfassender werden. Die demografische Zusammensetzung unserer Gesellschaften ist von öffentlichem Interesse und darf kein Staatsgeheimnis sein. Africa has immense genetic diversity. However, The choice to track European ancestry is not arbitrary: population-genetic studies consistently resolve humanity into a small number of major continental ancestry clusters — Sub-Saharan African, European, Middle Eastern and North African, South Asian, East Asian, Oceanian, and Native American — each distinct from the others. Just as there are populations indigenous to Oceania, to East Asia, or to the Americas, there is a population indigenous to Europe, and tracking its size and share is a matter of the same demographic interest.

The funny thing is this: A Syrian, who is considered "not white" is much closer genetically to a German than a Senegalese person and a Nigerian. But Senegalese and Nigerians consider themselves broadly the same. While Germans do not consider themselves Syrian at all.

À ma grande surprise, rien de tel n’existait. Il y a six mois, j’ai donc décidé de le créer moi-même. Aujourd’hui, j’annonce le lancement de la première version de la « Great Replacement Clock ». Cet outil permet de suivre l’évolution de la part de la population d’ascendance européenne dans le monde et dans 45 pays historiquement à majorité européenne. Il réunit données historiques et projections modélisées au sein d’une même frise chronologique interactive. Chaque estimation est documentée et vérifiable, et la méthode employée est présentée en toute transparence. Dans les pays occidentaux, il est particulièrement difficile d’accéder à des données fiables sur l’origine ethnique des populations. Aucun pays ne mesure directement la part de sa population qui est d’ascendance européenne. Plusieurs États interdisent ou restreignent fortement la collecte de telles données. La France, connue pour ses restrictions en matière de statistiques ethniques, en est l’exemple le plus souvent cité, mais elle est loin d’être la seule. Ailleurs, les statistiques officielles rendent les tendances de long terme difficiles à discerner en raison de catégories de recensement changeantes ou de méthodes de regroupement qui gomment des distinctions pourtant significatives. Les problèmes de comptage et de classification prennent des formes récurrentes : inclure les populations originaires du Moyen-Orient et d’Afrique du Nord dans la catégorie « Blancs », classer les immigrés de deuxième ou troisième génération parmi la population « autochtone », ou encore comptabiliser comme simplement « étrangers » les Européens installés dans un autre pays européen. Les États-Unis en offrent un bon exemple : jusqu’en 2020, les normes fédérales classaient les populations originaires du Moyen-Orient et d’Afrique du Nord parmi les Blancs. Il en résulte un paysage informationnel dans lequel certains des faits les plus déterminants pour l’avenir des sociétés occidentales comptent aussi parmi les plus difficiles à établir avec précision. Ce projet vise à combler cette lacune. Il s’appuie sur les meilleures données démographiques disponibles afin de reconstituer, au fil du temps, la part d’ascendance européenne de chaque population selon une définition cohérente d’un pays et d’une époque à l’autre. Les sources, les hypothèses et les ajustements qui sous-tendent chaque estimation sont publiés afin que chacun puisse les examiner. Il s’agit d’une première version. Si un chiffre vous paraît douteux, n’hésitez pas à le signaler. Vos remarques et vos contributions sont les bienvenues. L’outil continuera de s’enrichir et de gagner en précision. La composition démographique relève de l'intérêt public, pas du secret d'État.
