I always refer to VIX allocation levels during this time, I know people tweak it but this is pretty solid. VIX < 15 (Extreme Complacency): Markets are calm and optimistic. Investors typically hold 30-50% in cash to protect against sudden corrections and reduce exposure to new equity purchases. VIX 15 - 20 (Normal/Neutral): Baseline volatility where markets find balance. Investors hold 20-25% cash and deploy the rest in steady positions. VIX 20 - 25 (Elevated Fear): Anxiety builds due to economic or geopolitical news. Cash allocation tightens to 10-15% to take advantage of temporary market discounts. VIX 25 - 30 (Very Fearful): Markets experience significant swings. Cash drops to 5-10% as investors aggressively buy the dip. VIX > 30 (Extreme Panic): Market turbulence and investor sell-offs. Portfolios should be 95-100% invested (0-5% cash) to maximize recovery gains.
