A PC gamer has found a fun way to make Steam games feel like physical cartridges again. Reddit user u/Jibril-sama created a setup using old 2.5-inch SSDs, with each 128GB drive holding one Steam game and a small script. When the SSD is plugged into the PC, it automatically opens Steam and launches that game. The creator bought the used SSDs for around €7 each and uses them to store games that aren’t played often, freeing up space on the main drive. When they want to play a game, they simply plug in the SSD like inserting a game cartridge.

Remember Scott Pilgrim? It vanished from digital storefronts for 6 YEARS because of licensing. You literally couldn’t buy it anymore. It only came back because fans refused to let it die and Ubisoft finally rereleased it. That’s what people don’t understand about an all digital future. Games don’t have to flop to disappear. A contract expires, a license changes, and poof…it’s gone. Physical copies are the only thing that survives corporate decisions. That’s why this fight matters. NO DISC, NO BUY.

So what we've learned is Sony was and is banking on Xbox's layoffs to take the heat away from them. That's why they made these announcements when they did. While people were upset with Xbox, and the industry as a whole, they wanted to announce: ➔ No more physical discs for new games ➔ PERMANENTLY lose your entire account, games, everything after 36 months of inactivity ➔ Closing the PS3 and PS Vita Stores ➔ Losing hundreds of movies users paid for with no reimbursement Literally, they're banking on others hurting you more so they can try to get away with some of the worst, most anti-consumer policies like ever While you were getting beaten and stabbed, Sony decided it was a good time to come in and steal your wallet—and think you wouldn't notice
