Roblox was fine with Pls Donate for years, the game even having won a Bloxy. Now that direct Robux donations are a Plus perk, they suddenly have a problem with the game.

Roblox has double downed on removing donation games 😔

I'm tired. The past year of constant negativity from Roblox and everything surrounding it has taken a huge toll on me mentally. It feels like every other week Roblox is shooting themselves in the foot and getting further and further away from the game I fell in love with 10 years ago. Roblox is basically my job, and it’s the box I’ve put myself in content wise, but I’ve started having conversations with my team about what the future looks like. I’m seriously considering making a big push into GTA 6 content when it drops, and potentially using it as an off-ramp into more mature content.

Covering Roblox doesn't mean blindly defending them, it means holding them accountable. That's the whole point of the page. And "they can do what they want" isn't an argument, it's just a description of power. The question is whether what they're doing is right and ethical towards their users and developers. You reposted a tweet saying Roblox did this to "eliminate the middleman" and keep the money. So you already agree it's about revenue, you just think developers should accept it. That's exactly the mindset that lets platforms take more and more from creators without pushback. Today it's PLS DONATE. Tomorrow it could be your favorite game.

If the donation method was never official or endorsed, why did Roblox hand Starving Artists an Innovation Award for using the exact same mechanic? The CEO gave that award out personally. So either it was legitimate enough to celebrate, or Roblox only started having a problem with it once they had their own paid alternative ready to go. Can't really be both. In any case, blindsiding developers who built their entire game around a mechanic you publicly rewarded, with zero warning, is not how you treat the people building on your platform.

It's another instance of a corporation doing everything they can to make the most money, while stripping opportunities away from creators who bring players to the platform. You can argue all you want that Hazem has earned millions from his game, but the precedent is that Roblox can do this with any game, stripping creators of their income overnight.

It's pure greed. Roblox released a subscription that lets you donate Robux, then gutted the ability to easily donate without a subscription through community games like PLS DONATE. With no warning to the creator that their game was going to be affected or given room for feedback. This is not the first update Roblox has made that blindsights creators and their income, and it won't be the last. Keep speaking out against these changes.

It has 5 BILLION visits. Developers make a living from it, and Roblox pushed these changes suddenly with no warning. Whether you like the game or not isn’t the point. If Roblox can treat a developer with billions of visits as disposable, smaller developers have even less protection.

I wasn’t made aware of this change before it was announced. No warning, no chance to give my input or feedback before they announce this change. I’ve been developing on this platform since I was 12 and have always loved making games on Roblox, so seeing something this impactful happen overnight without real consideration is genuinely upsetting. This means a lot to me and I’m really sad about this. The solution Roblox gave us is the Transfer API, which really isn’t a solution and still affects us heavily. It’s locked behind a $5/month subscription, capped at 1,000 Robux per month, and under-18 users require parental approval for EVERY SINGLE transaction. That completely changes the experience. If transferring Robux is going to be paid, gamepasses need to coexist. Removing them ruins everything and doesn’t stop bad actors from just purchasing through the site anyway. It doesn’t make sense. I really don’t want to build hatred toward this platform. I love Roblox and still believe in it, and if it truly cares about its developers, I’m sure there are better solutions that keep users safe without killing our game. @Roblox @DavidBaszucki
