I designed a logo for a client in 2021. charged ₦4,500. last week he slides into my DM asking for a redesign. i quote him. his response? "aaah, that's too much i was hoping it will be ₦10k, i know someone doing it for ₦5k... but because of our old relationship" the irony, in 2021, his kaftan business was ₦15k per piece (cloth + sewing). today? lowest is ₦120k. his prices scaled 5-30x as his craft improved but somehow design gets different rules....

This is how you handle confrontations. He stood up to them. Made his position clear. Didn’t give them the money they wanted. Walked away when it became rowdy. Next time they see him around, they will know him as “that oyibo wey no dey press moni”, and either ignore him or try to become friends with him. But the friendship this time will be from a place of mutual respect, not intimidation as it would have been if he had given them money. He’s smarter than Carter Efe and the bunch of idiots that were defending what he did in similar situation. Unless your life is in danger, there’s absolutely no reason why an adult should get into physical confrontation in public. That’s what law enforcement is for. In our case where they’re mostly ineffective, it’s best to just walk away. If you get into a fight outside of self defense, it is either you hurt/kill the person or you get hurt/killed. Neither outcomes is favorable for someone whose life is going well. Emphasis on “whose life is going well”. I know some of you are useless to yourselves and society and still won’t understand this. The message is not for you.

There’s a huge lack of accountability when there’s a false rape accusation. A rapist false or not will always be seen as one first, whereas someone laying false accusations moves on with their lives in most cases. Non should ever have to happen, but we can’t deny that in both cases the world will move on but the victim in question will be left to battle the scars.

I don’t support either, neither am I trying to necessarily compare them or make it a gender based war. But seeing how both cases are handled most times, and the fact that it’s way easier for such allegations to be laid and then almost nothing happens when they find out it’s false can be heart wrenching.

I totally disagree. In as much I want to consider the emotional and mental trauma involved, saying a man whose life is destroyed just because someone felt cute and said he did something that never happened doesn’t affect him on the same level or maybe more as it would a lady is just being insensitive and unfair. There’s no way to repair the damage that has been done to its full extent to a mans reputation same as to a woman when raped. IMO both offenses deserve the same punishment, and non should be seen as a better situation than the other.
