This is very good advice that you are giving Austin. I have no love for Palantir, and I certainly wouldn’t be upset if they were brought down a notch, but they are among the biggest of the big fish. J.D. Vance is one of Peter Thiel’s proteges, and he would not have become VP without Thiel’s help along the way. I won’t weigh in on the merits of Austin’s case because it is beyond my expertise. What I WILL say is that he shouldn’t even THINK about suing Palantir unless he has a BIG team of very competent lawyers who are willing to work pro-bono or at greatly reduced rates for his case. You can bet Palantir has an army of top-notch lawyers who will bury him in legal paperwork if he sues them. Expect this lawsuit to take AT LEAST 5 years to wind its way through the court system, and unless he can find lawyers willing to work for free or nearly free, his legal bills will be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not millions. And here is one question he should ask his lawyers BEFORE starting a lawsuit. Palantir said they are setting aside 180 positions for those who fear for their safety because of anti-Semitism. I’m no lawyer, but I SUSPECT that they will bring up the following argument in their defense. “Oh, we are not discriminating against those who aren’t Jewish. We are not reserving these seats based on religion or ethnicity. We are reserving them for those who have legitimate fears because of anti-Semitism. There is a subtle distinction. Not all Jews fear they have been or will be targets of anti-Semitism. Those who have no such fear will be excluded from our program. In fact, to be eligible, you will have to show that you have reasonable cause to fear that you specifically will be the target of anti-Semitism. Also, you don’t have to be Jewish to fear being the target of anti-Semitism. Perhaps you were assaulted because of your facial features by some dim-witted moron who believes in the discredited “science” of physiognomy. It doesn’t matter whether you are Jewish or not. You could be Christian, but there could be a position open for you if you were attacked by someone ranting about you being a “big-nosed Jew.” That would be a legitimate reason for you to fear being attacked by an anti-Semite, regardless of your religion or ethnicity.” Now, I don’t know if such a defense would work in court, but it is the type of question Austin should ask a COMPETENT lawyer with lots of relevant experience before starting a lawsuit. Again, I have no dog in this fight. If Austin want to sue them, by all means, he should go ahead. I'll sit on the sidelines eating my popcorn. But he shouldn't sue them without thoroughly thinking this through.
