This is a mischaracterization of Obama’s 2015 nuclear deal. And @mehdirhasan is knowingly excluding some crucial details. We are where we are today, at least in part because of Obama’s deal. You can draw a straight line from JCPOA to October 7 and to the current situation. JCPOA was exclusively focused on nuclear and enrichment and that was its major flaw. Instead of packaging a comprehensive deal that would include the missile program as well, Obama purposely only focused narrowly on nuclear. This allowed the regime to fund not only its terror proxies but also its missile program and build up stockpiles, creating a shield for the regime to go nuclear by making it too costly to attack them once their nuclear ambitions became clear. It was widely known even back in 2015 this is how things would unfold. Marco Rubio is on record in 2015 predicting all these.

Just wanted to remind folks, especially the GOP and the FDD, that Barack Obama’s 2015 nuclear deal didn’t give Iran control of the Strait of Hormuz or allow it to keep 60% enriched uranium. It sent $1.7 billion to Iran versus the tens of billions Iran will now make from tolls. 🤷🏽‍♂️
