The podcast has obv been in hiatus for about a year now (a question of funding, time and energy). But! I'll soon be doing a slightly less polished version, so stay... runed. :D

I am in no way an expert on this, so I can't really comment further. But I feel it was important to point this out.
There have been some rumours that Sweden was "about to ban runes". This was never the case, it was just the existing legislation on hate speech being looked over. And the conclusion is that no changes are needed.

More 19th century runes of the type found on the Kensington stone were found in Hassela and have now been dated to before the Kensington stone was found. Blog post in Swedish (it may be time for a Rune Cast episode on this).
Mer om Kensingtonrunorna i Hassela. En av inskrifterna är dat. till 1870 men Kensingtonstenen hittades inte förrän 1898. Hassela kan alltså inte vara inspirerad av K-stenen. Det blir allt tydligare att Kensington är en genuin svensk 1800-talsinskrift. k-blogg.se/2019/05/30/fle…

Henrik Williams showed us a 3d printed runestone fragment, really nifty. Because it's based on detailed scans, you can use it to examine the inscription. (This very exciting fragment says *r x auk x* = "...r and") #runology
M 10, slightly trickier. No complete name remains; one reading is "...sons (?) Ka...ni had the stone made in memory of... their..."
M 3 stands more or less in its original place; the big flat meadow below was a bay at the time.
Once again, a whole bunch of runologists gather for the Field Runologist Meeting. We're in Medelpad, the middle of Sweden (although people from further south call northern Sweden). Medelpad has few enough stones that we'll be seeing all of them today and tomorrow.
