@manelrodero @ariaupdated Option 1 is to just pause the Intel Corporation - Display - 31.0.101.5186 driver in your driver policies to stop it from being offered and overwriting the newer driver. You'll continue to get the benefits of driver management for all other driver while avoiding this conflict.
@manelrodero @ariaupdated 3/3 To address this: Pause the driver in your driver policies; WU can't override the manually installed driver or Wait for the new driver to be published to WU or become available on the OEM website. Intel just released this so it will take OEMs time to validate and publish
@manelrodero @ariaupdated 2/3 I can see that almost all of the targeting provided by publishers for this driver in WU is from OEM's using a more specific 4 part HWIDs and the Intel driver has mostly less specific 2 part HWIDs, resulting in the WU driver winning.
@manelrodero @ariaupdated 1/3 WU targeting is complex and hard to determine without logs. Driver ranking involves various criteria, with version and date being just part of it. The WU driver likely outranks the Intel driver due to its identifier score, offering a more specific match.
@Bu5yGiraffe @UpdatedavidM @ariaupdated @bytenerd 2/2 This means extension drivers will be offered even if the base driver isn't installed. We understand this can affect the day 1 experience. We're evaluating ways to better control when drivers install and devices reboot to minimize user impact.
@Bu5yGiraffe @UpdatedavidM @ariaupdated @bytenerd 1/2 Extension drivers are minor updates to a driver package and will remain dormant if the base driver isn't installed. Each driver is individually packaged and offered based on targeting parameters like CHID/HWID/OS Ver. Drivers can't be published with other driver dependencies.
@louieLT @lintnotes @IntuneSuppTeam @MSIntune 1.20.0 is available but can see it only targets devices with at least Win11 22H2. Ver 1.22.0 and 1.21.1 are in flighting and target both Win 10 & Win 11 devices. They should be available as an Other driver if you need it urgently.

@bdam555 @lintnotes @IntuneSuppTeam @MSIntune Windows Update doesn't currently support firmware updates for peripheral devices. Service keeps track of approved updates. If the update was applicable again, we should be deploying the update without another approval. I'll test this tomorrow and open a bug if it doesn't work.
@lintnotes @IntuneSuppTeam @MSIntune Drivers submitted to WU as Automatic are available through the service as an Other driver in just a couple of days. Once flighting completes it can become recommended (up to 45 days) 1.22 is in flighting 1.21-1.12.2 fully released Targeting issue or we're not getting device scans

@MEM_MVP @StaceyACD @UpdatedavidM Only approved drivers are offered with 2 exceptions: 1. New hardware. Your device can install the latest driver to function. 2. Extension drivers are unmanaged and will be installed as they are typically minor updates to an existing driver. Check for "Extension" in the name.
@sassan_f @AdamarBE @andydhollander @TheWMIGuy When new hardware is detected on a device (like a mouse or keyboard), we allow the latest driver to get installed for optimal functionality if Windows doesn't have one already. Further updates will need approval.
@AdamGell @bytenerd @mike_marable We are already working on the next big improvements to the service and this includes the full list of devices each driver update is applicable for!
@scottpiner @bytenerd @sassan_f @jarwidmark @syst_and_deploy @ccmexec Verify if the installed drivers are extension drivers, 'Extension' will be in the driver name. These are not managed by the deployment service, are typically minor updates to a base driver, and won't be used unless the base driver is installed.
