I've said this a million times, but people keep disagreeing with me in my mentions. So, REMINDER: Being attracted to the same gender is not against the Law of Chastity Members who are aren't a disappointment. They're not lesser or broken. There's nothing wrong with them at all.

Gay Latter-day Saints, think about this. When I see a male person I'm attracted to, I feel no guilt or shame. I'm not scared about hiding it, I'm not scared about what God feels about it, I know deep within myself that it's okay. An attraction isn't sin.

Developing feelings for someone you can't have is the most painful part of being a gay LDS. I think everyone can relate to that. When you're going through that, don't be too hard on yourself. It's okay that you struggle with it. Honor your feelings and love yourself.

If someone comes out as gay to you, it is more important to offer support and care than it is to convince them that your way of thinking about it is correct. Feel honored they told you. That means they trust you and value your friendship and advice. Offer friendship in return.

I think everyone can relate to the feeling of wanting someone you can never be with. What's unique to being gay in the church is knowing you'll never be with someone you want to be with. Imagine that pain popping up and learning to deal with it. You can support so much.

I think people misunderstand privilege because it's so politically charged. If you acknowledge the privilege you have, it doesn't mean you need to feel guilty. In the church, we teach it like this: "Because I have been given much I too must give."

@SGAMormon “Because I have been given much I too must give,” is fairly uncontroversial. Even Spider-Man is on board! Privilege can be a useful concept, but it frequently gets used to criticize people based on their race, sex, and other characteristics that they can’t control.

You know who's the most supportive of my decision to stay in the church? Gay people who have left. For gays who left the church, you know which church members are most supportive of them? Gays who haven't left. It's easy to support instead of judge when you understand.

Updates: - There's still nothing wrong with being attracted to the same gender. There's still nothing wrong with you if you are. I never feel a bit of guilt/shame when I find a male attractive. - The church is still true. - This blew my mind: youtu.be/ZEyAs3NWH4A /1
