#PMDS and #SeedPelletisation are doing more than establishing a crop cover. They are creating a living shield that helps orchards withstand extreme weather while steadily rebuilding soil health. In East Godavari, farmer Surya Narayana Raju observed how the living cover created through PMDS helped shield his orchard from extreme summer temperatures and strong winds while continuously enriching the soil. Even when temperatures touched 47–49°C, the orchard remained healthy and productive. Earthworm activity increased, organic matter built up naturally, and dependence on external fertilizers reduced significantly. Building field based learning for #NaturalFarming in Meghalaya. In Kyrdum village, West Khasi Hills, 65 year old farmer Dlesbida Thongni is cultivating ginger along with diverse crops on 0.5 acres, earning more than ₹1 lakh annually. The Farmer Field School provides a space for farmers to review their fields, observe changes, discuss experiences and learn together through a participatory process. “Through the Farmer Field School, we come together, review our fields, discuss what we observe and learn from each other. This is how I learned Natural Farming.” For Dlesbida, the experience has also brought a pleasant surprise. After living in her village for 65 years, she is now meeting people from different places who come to learn from the farmers. She hopes more farmers in her village will come together, practice Natural Farming and bring change to their community. During the Grama Sabha held at K. Pedapudi village of Ambajipeta Mandal, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema District, Hon’ble Chief Minister @ncbn reviewed department wise targets and achievements. National Resource Organisation (#NRO) Programme continues to strengthen grassroots learning through educational partnerships. At Government Higher Secondary School, Manjaanviduthi Village in Pudukkottai district, Tamil Nadu, preparatory work began for establishing a Surya Mandal Model, with enthusiastic participation from students of Pushkaram Agricultural College. The team completed boundary marking and initiated land preparation; however, due to hard pan soil conditions, irrigation was undertaken to improve soil workability before raised bed preparation and sowing. The Agricultural College faculty expressed keen interest in integrating Natural Farming models and methodologies into student learning and exploring the establishment of a similar model in their campus. Strengthening paddy cultivation through Natural Farming in Meghalaya. In Thadmuthlong B, West Jaintia Hills, a field comparison between conventional chemical farming and Natural Farming is showing a visible difference in paddy growth and root development. Farmer Ngaitlang Suchiang’s Natural Farming plots, using line sowing and raised bed line sowing with paddy-cum-fish cultivation, show stronger crop establishment compared to conventional transplanted paddy. The stronger root development supports healthier crop growth through better soil conditions and moisture management. Such field experiences are contributing to the growing evidence and learning on Natural Farming. From restoring barren fields to inspiring entire communities. Day 2 of the AKRSP exposure visit highlighted the transformative potential of #NaturalFarming in Madakasira Division, Sri Sathya Sai District. The delegation visited Amidalagondi village, where farmer Rajini presented her two acre Cotton A Grade Model. Once left barren for years, the land has been revived through three years of consistent Natural Farming practices. Alongside cotton, the farm now supports a diverse cropping system with moringa, okra, bajra, maize, and castor. Delegates observed seed pelletization, natural farming formulations, and biodiversity based pest management strategies that are helping farmers reduce costs while improving resilience. The team later visited a 100 acre compact Natural Farming block and interacted with farmer Lokesh, who shared how his land had remained uncultivable for nearly two years before Natural Farming helped restore its productivity. Reflecting on his journey, he remarked, “The change began in the soil, but it transformed the farmer as well.” His experience and visible results encouraged neighbouring farmers to adopt pelletized #PMDS, creating a ripple effect across the community.
