BREAKING: While Trump SCREAMS "COMMUNISM" at Democrats, his own administration is quietly buying up equity stakes in private companies. Donald Trump and his MAGA cronies have spent months hyperventilating about "socialism" and "communism," terrified of Democratic Socialist candidates winning elections nationwide. Meanwhile, behind closed doors, his own Commerce Department is doing something that sounds suspiciously like... government ownership of private industry. This week, the Commerce Department quietly announced it will hand out $874 million in federal funding to seven semiconductor and tech companies — in exchange for the federal government taking a minority equity stake in EVERY SINGLE ONE of them. Yes, you read that right. The Trump administration, run by a party that has spent this entire election cycle screeching about socialism, is literally having the U.S. government buy ownership stakes in private companies, including GlobalFoundries ($300 million), Kepler ($245 million), and Multibeam Corp ($140 million), among others. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick tried to frame this as smart business, saying it would "enhance the return for the U.S. taxpayer." Funny how that logic evaporates whenever Democrats propose public investment in healthcare, education, or housing — suddenly that's "government overreach" and "the road to Venezuela." This isn't even Trump's first equity grab. Last year, his administration took a 10% stake in Intel worth roughly $11 billion in federal subsidies — a move so aggressive that even Senator Todd Young, the Republican who literally wrote the CHIPS Act, said it was never supposed to work this way. Trump's team also quietly grabbed a $150 million stake in laser startup xLight in December, despite the backlash. So let's be clear about what's actually happening: Trump isn't opposed to government ownership of private enterprise. He's opposed to it when it benefits WORKING PEOPLE — healthcare, childcare, public housing. He's perfectly comfortable with it when it benefits Wall Street-friendly tech and chip manufacturers, with Republican-appointed officials deciding who gets the stake. Call it whatever conservative euphemism you like — "strategic investment," "public-private partnership." When Democrats do it for the public good, it's socialism. When Trump does it for corporate cronies, it's just business as usual. Please like and share if you want a new president who isn’t a self-serving hypocrite!
