Disagree on AAU. It is fine the issue more is it stresses individual vs team. Fundamentals are suffering as everyone is trying to fit a mold that NBA looks for. That said we still have the best players and training available. Soccer has no path to this until it is lucrative in the US to invest. As of now it isnt.

@Siizzzl @RealJacobPerry Yes, that is a part of it but nobody is going to subsidize high-level training. There’s no money to be made from it as of right now. Basketball and football and baseball generate lots of money as such there is more subsidizing of high-level training leagues for kids (real ROI)

@RealJacobPerry That literally has nothing to do with the fact that the interest of the US is in baseball, football, basketball. If the interest was in Soccer, then they could play athletes much more. That means more media rights. That means more grass roots sponsorship. Look at AAU basketball.

This is a whole lot of writing that means nothing. As long as the United States best athletes play basketball, football, baseball… we will never become one of the top soccer nations. It has much more to do with sports interest in the United States then to do with developmental leagues.

@itschrispugh_ @RealJacobPerry I don’t think you understand it is OK. In the United States the vast majority of top athletes do not play soccer. They are sponsored as young children to play AAU basketball, etc.. that structure does not exist for Soccer because there is no ROI.

@Bajcectic @RealJacobPerry You’re not understanding, in Belgium Soccer probably generates revenues, and so people are driven to this and they have better support in their farming system. In the USA football and basketball generate revenue. That is why developmental support around those as much higher.

They go hand-in-hand. Look at developmental soccer in the USA versus AAU basketball. If all of the best at least and kids with potential for played Soccer instead, much more money would be invested to the development. It is all about what sport can generate more money in the United States.
