#Copilot Cowork is GA now and ensure you learn and understand about the new consumption based pricing

Microsoft Copilot Cowork is now generally available worldwide. There are a lot of rumors flying around about how the billing works, so here's the straight version. TLDR: Cowork isn't bundled into the M365 Copilot license. Any use of Cowork is charged on a usage-based basis, paid out of your own tenant in Copilot Credits, and managed by IT in the M365 admin center. It's consumption on top of the license, not a per-seat add-on. The mechanics: License gate. Users need a Microsoft 365 Copilot license to access Cowork. That license keeps its predictable per-user/month value — Copilot Chat; Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams; the Work IQ context engine; a multi-model system; and pre-built agents like Researcher and Analyst. Cowork sits on top as consumption. Currency = Copilot Credits. Every Cowork task burns credits, and the price of each task is calculated from four inputs: → model use → context retrieval → tool calls → runtime IT stays in control. The new Cost Management dashboard in the M365 admin center lets admins enable billing, set spending limits (hard caps per user, group, and tenant), scope access, configure budget alerts, and monitor consumption — so you scale AI without cost surprises. Flexible purchasing. You can run it pay-as-you-go or with prepaid credits / existing capacity, depending on whether you optimize for flexibility or predictability. One nuance worth flagging: Copilot Credits are a shared currency, the same pool powers eligible Microsoft AI experiences, not just Cowork. So as more agents and services come online, they draw from the same model. Ok my perspective: something I like is with Copilot Cowork you're not locked into one model, and you only pay for what you actually run. In Microsoft's own testing, Cowork came in 30–40% cheaper per prompt than the comparable Claude Cowork setup. Want to go deeper? Picked this up from a peer: if you want to see your credit usage in Copilot Cowork, type /cost at the end of your session. In most cases it'll give you a credit usage readout. Heads up, it hasn't worked for everyone. A few peers couldn't get it to run, but it's worked every time for me so far. Worth a try!

Elon Musk just used a joke to perform an autopsy on the American economy. Two economists go for a hike. They find a pile of shit. One pays the other $100 to eat it. They keep walking. Find another pile. The second economist pays $100 back to eat that one. They stop. Neither man gained a dollar. Both ate shit for nothing. But on paper they just generated $200 in GDP. Musk: “That basically would count as a job. This is to illustrate the absurdity of economics.” That is not a punchline. That is the operating system of the federal government. Every time a politician celebrates “record job creation” this is what they are describing. Not output. Not value. Not progress. Motion. The entire bureaucratic machine exists to manufacture friction and then invoice for it. Compliance layers built to justify the next compliance layer. Oversight committees that produce nothing but the need for more oversight. Consulting firms hired to audit the work of other consulting firms. Trillions circulating through systems that have never produced a single thing you can hold in your hands. But the GDP number ticks up. So everyone applauds. The shit gets eaten. The scoreboard moves. Nobody asks what actually got built. This is why Washington treats AI like a five alarm fire. AI does not play the friction game. It does not form a committee. It does not schedule a review. It does not file 400 pages of paperwork no one will ever read. It just solves the problem. And that is the one thing the machine cannot survive. The government does not tax results. It taxes the process. The longer the process, the deeper the cut. AI compresses a ten day workflow into seconds. There is nothing left to bill. Nothing left to tax. Nothing left to skim. So they will spend the next decade warning you that AI threatens the economy. What they will never say is what it actually threatens. The illusion that activity equals progress. The $200 economy where both men ate shit and called it a job. The machines are not coming for your purpose. They are coming to prove that half the economy never had one.

I saw @satyanadella’s post hyping Copilot in $MSFT Word, so I replicated his exact demo workflow in my own environment. - Had ChatGPT generate an investment memo - Opened the Copilot pane in Word - Used the first prompt verbatim: “turn on track changes and tighten the executive summary” Copilot happily generated a redlined version… …inside the chat box. The actual document? Untouched. How is this possible? 😂
