@joshparamedic @StuLittle1972 From experience, many think that cover isn’t needed based on it never being needed before, forgetting that there’s always that one time. 1st aid isn’t good enough and fREC 3 should be minimum with HCP on call at all times to refer to via phone. Also equipment needs detailing.

@ZeeshParamedic @StuLittle1972 Regulation makes no difference however financial penalties would as the industry is about profits and don’t want to impact. It’s sad that public safety isn’t priority. Laws stating medical cover is legal requirement, providers being fined for incorrect, that will work more.

@statto95 @StuLittle1972 There’s too many events that haven’t heard of the purple guide or want to ignore it due to costs. Lots of providers putting profits first and failing with correct resources. There needs to be laws that says minimum equipment and servicing requirements.

@Worthymedic @StuLittle1972 Things seen of CQC registered - used sharps on counter, eaten sandwich left on seat so no cleaning after previous event, equipment not working, out of date equip. CQC isn’t the way forward, fines and sag not permitting events will make more change.

What would make a difference is financial penalties and legal requirements for effective medical cover. Clients & providers fined if fail to

@StuLittle1972 @CFR_RA878 Events that have incorrect medical cover. It’s peoples lives and limbs and should be taken seriously. We’ve refused to work for some due to concerns and another provider does the job without a care, because it’s money. Both sides are at fault and change is needed.

@StuLittle1972 @CFR_RA878 What resources were present? Unfortunately this is all too common as finances play a huge factor in resources. As a provider, we would rather refuse a job that wishes to be under resourced (which we have several times)as public and patient safety is priority rather than profits.

There’s many who don’t value or appreciate the responsibility they hold, and the care the public expect when they see the green uniform. @StuLittle1972 @CFR_RA878 Don’t know how to complete event medical management plans, don’t inform the local ambulance trust, misuse NHS services, wearing epaulettes such as ECA and EMT when not qualified to that level, wearing ambulance uniform. For us, only staff who are qualified to work ambulances

@StuLittle1972 @CFR_RA878 Recently we heard of ‘advanced first aiders’ being able to prescribe penthrox and entonox which is worrying. There’s no standards and as long as it’s within PGD then you can do what you want. There’s too many ‘pop up’ providers who have no idea how to correctly assess resources,

@StuLittle1972 @CFR_RA878 Anything. If a provider rejects a job, there’s always another who will do it just for the money. There needs to be education for events and venues on why the correct cover is important and what to look for.
