This becomes so much more apparent when you seal the gut, no longer have excessive serotonin floating around in your peripheral/gut, and brain serotonin restores to a harmonic balance Too little aint it, and of course too much isnt either Too much outside of the brain will also "steal" potential from it being in your brain as well, vasoconstricted, poor mood, feeling cold, low energy, poor sleep, all from this Serotonin in balance in the brain is not the enemy
The biggest problem with SSRI's isnt necessarily serotonin receptor activity itself, but the downregulation and desensitization of the serotonergic system that occurs with chronic use There are negative implications to chronic activation of certain receptors, especially in the wrong context, but the desensitization plays a major role Healthy people with normal levels of serotonin receptors have balanced sensitivity to serotonin, and don't have it floating around in excess in the wrong places Too much in the gut, too much in the blood, and of course, too much in the brain is not good
