On May 26, 2026, at around 6:35 a.m., Vancouver Police responded to a residential burglary in the 10900 block of NE 48th Street. A woman reported she woke up to the sound of someone smashing windows in her residence and believed it was a male who was known to her who had tried to break into her residence a few days earlier. The woman left the residence and got into her vehicle to wait for police. When police arrived, they located a male holding a knife approaching a woman in her yard. The male refused police commands to drop the knife and kept moving toward the woman. A Vancouver Police Officer discharged his firearm, striking the male. Officers provided medical aid to the male at the scene prior to his transport to the hospital where he is receiving further medical treatment. The Vancouver Police officer involved in the shooting, and two witness officers, have been placed on critical incident leave, per standard protocol. The information being released is preliminary, and this is an ongoing investigation. The Vancouver Police Department notified the Washington State Office of Independent Investigations (OII), who will be investigating the shooting. As part of the Vancouver Police Department’s Body Worn Camera (BWC) Program, video captured by body-worn cameras and in-car cameras will be reviewed and released at a later time. In compliance with WAC 139-12, Vancouver Police Department personnel will not be involved in the independent investigation. • All future communications will be sent by the OII. • The OII will release the name of the involved officer. • Once the OII investigation is complete, the case will be forwarded to the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review. New footage obtained by @komo4 & @tycunningtonkomo shows Early Saturday morning at 4 a.m., a massive shootout near the Burgermaster at 101st & Aurora left 40 shell casings, a bullet in a man’s bedroom, and another hole in the wall above a 6-week-old baby’s crib. Neighbors have now installed metal planters to block criminal activity from flooding into their streets and hung 95 balloons on the pedestrian bridge, one for every shooting in the area since 2024. The city’s response? A meeting. No concrete plan. “North Aurora has been abandoned by the city” residents are calling on Seattle leadership to act before someone innocent gets killed.

@BrandiKruse The number of times they said false rumors is insulting to victims when in fact the rumors didn’t even cover how bad it actually was. Students were threatened not to talk about it. This made the victims look like liars and made the situation much worse.

FINAL: All lanes of EB SR 14 are now OPEN✈️ Around noon, a small plane made an emergency landing on EB SR 14 at MP 2.4 in Vancouver, closing the right lane while crews responded. Traffic is cleared for takeoff and back on its flight path. Thanks for your patience!

A small plane had an emergency landing on SR 14 near MP 2. The plane did not hit any vehicles and there are no injuries to those onboard. EB SR 14 is still currently blocked. Please have patience in the area.

@KantInEastt They only ask you questions like this if they are suspicious of you and gauge your reaction. She wasn’t being recruited. She’s the target age/dark haired/ racially ambiguous woman that other countries use for drug couriers etc. He wanted to see if it made her nervous.
