I started reading this wonderful book and just realised that today Sept 10th is the birthday of Mona Mahmoudnizhad. Had she lived she would’ve been 57. Known as “The Angel of Shiraz” for her humanitarian work in orphanages, she was hanged aged just 16 along with 9 other women on June 18th 1983 (see pinned tweet) just for being a Bahá’í. Most Iranians are now aware of her story. And what the regime were doing so shamefully to Bahá’ís back in the 1980s they are doing now to anyone who questions them. Hence the #OurStoryIsOne campaign. As a certain Mr. Samandari once said - prophetically - to Mona’s mother a few weeks after she was born: “Nurture this babe well with your own milk. One day she will cause the world to cry out!” She did. And we continue to cry out in her name.

@KatiePrescott18 I really liked this part too.... the whole ending of the Historical note actually. I had to read it a few times and just sit with it. It resonates.
@ShelfieTalk A7 I liked the Author’s Note and Historical Note as it provides more details around the time and events discussed in this graphic novel. It allows the reader to keep learning after the story is over and encourages them to keep investigating. #ShelfieTalk

@ShelfieTalk A6 I think this was a great introduction to the WW2 and the Holocaust. It is a fast read without too much language that could prevent a less-experienced reader to become intimidated. The images and story are engaging and draw you in quickly. #ShelfieTalk
