@KatieKeithBarn2 I struggled with this recently. Shipping more code and features than ever before. But at the end of each day still feeling behind. For me it was a satisfaction issue. Solving real problems manually gave a sense of achievement. You could finish a working day satisfied.

@joshcirre @bkuhlorelse This will be the game changer for sure. At the moment I have a couple internal Laravel apps on a cheap DO droplet. Running these on cloud is currently more expensive. Scale to zero solves this and I will be migrating even internal apps.

@KatieKeithBarn2 I don't think clients choose the platform... In my experience clients end up on the platform chosen by the developer or agency. The clients pick the people not the tech stack. If WordPress becomes slow or cumbersome to develop on, it may no longer be the chosen platform.

@jeffr0 This isn't just a WordPress plugin directory issue. It wasn't that long ago that GravityForms had a supply chain attack where their website was compromised and malicious versions of their plugin were published. Auto updates also make these attacks so successful!

@mikemcalister You can't deny that WordPress not just in the block editor is still lacking basic features. Potentially the "WordPress drama" of recent years highlights a fractured community and gap in the market.

We previously saved time producing basic static markup by using the block editor within seconds you can add a group, create some columns add your content. But years later the block editor hasn’t matured to actually support the needs of developers and agencies. Now the thought of logging into the admin, finding the page going into the editor. Using a UI to add the blocks, having to assign classes and still write your own JS/CSS seems so outdated & slow in the world of AI. We’re now actively researching and testing the use of modern frontend and headless solutions.
