I don’t think people know how film sets work. Everyone on the crew is usually a contractor. They bring their own equipment or rent it. You have zero control, as a studio, over what these contractors have on their camera. You can ask them to get rid of stickers like this, but they’re not obligated to, and you can fire them, but then the set falls behind.

I calculated what it would cost to replace everything my wife does as a stay-at-home mom. The answer: $131,130 a year. Here's how I calculated that amount. My wife genuinely loves being home with our four children. She homeschools them, manages our home, cooks for our family, gardens, and invests her life in raising our kids. But every so often, she asks whether she should get a job to help financially. Not because she wants a career outside the home, but because our culture can make stay-at-home mothers feel like they are not contributing unless they bring home a paycheck. I always remind her: “You already have a career. You work for our family.” She may not receive a paycheck, but much of what she does saves us money we would otherwise have to earn, pay taxes on, and then spend hiring other people. So I ran the numbers using typical rates in the Des Moines, Iowa area: HOUSEKEEPER 12 hours/week × $20.74/hour $12,942 per year NANNY FOR FOUR CHILDREN 50 hours/week × $23/hour $59,800 per year HOMESCHOOL EDUCATOR 5 hours/day × 180 school days × $25.03/hour $22,527 per year PERSONAL SHOPPER 4 hours/week × $20.58/hour $4,281 per year PERSONAL CHEF 2 hours/day × $38.33/hour $27,981 per year PERSONAL GARDENER 3 hours/week × 30 weeks × $40/hour $3,600 per year TOTAL ESTIMATED ANNUAL REPLACEMENT VALUE: $131,130 This is not meant to be a literal salary calculation. Some responsibilities overlap, but that is part of the point: replacing what one stay-at-home mother does would require hiring several different people. And this still does not account for sick children, overnight care, appointments, curriculum planning, discipline, emotional support, family scheduling, or the constant mental load of knowing what everyone needs. My wife may not receive a paycheck, but she creates enormous value for our family every day. A paycheck is not the only proof that someone is contributing. Thank a stay-at-home mom today.

Been watching Fauci invoke the fifth over and over and over again this morning, and growing increasingly angry about it. In March of 2020, someone I was very close to experienced their father becoming suddenly severely ill with a rare autoimmune condition. He was immediately hospitalized, and his beautiful wife and kids were prohibited from remaining with him in the ICU… thanks to the advice of Dr. Fauci. For a month, he remained alone in the hospital with zero patient advocate by his side as doctors repeatedly tried to diagnose him with COVID on a one track mind. Not ONCE did he ever test positive for the virus. After transferring him to a larger hospital facility, doctors advised his family to take him off of the ventilator that had been breathing for him for weeks. Despite him having living parents, three children, and a spouse who were desperate to say goodbye, the hospital only allowed two people to come physically remove him from the ventilator and help him pass… thanks to the advice of Dr. Fauci. The rest of the family was forced to say goodbye, forever, to their father through a Skype call. SKYPE. I held his daughter’s hand while she sobbed through the computer screen, sharing “I love you’s” with her Daddy one last time… thanks to the advice of Dr. Fauci. He passed away on Good Friday. To add insult to injury, the hospital attempted multiple times to add COVID to his death certificate on the chance they may receive federal grant money from the likes of Dr. Fauci here - despite the patient NEVER having tested positive for COVID. The family was prohibited from having a funeral or memorial service, because Colorado was so strict on gatherings of people… thanks to the advice of Dr. Fauci. This story is just one of millions, literally. Millions of people who never saw their spouse again. Millions of people who said goodbye to parents, grandparents, sons and daughters through FaceTime or Skype. Millions of kids who would never get to hug their Daddy again or be walked down the aisle for their wedding because their fathers had no patient advocate with them in the hospital. And this absolute scumbag has the audacity to sit before Congress and refuse to answer a SINGLE question, because despite insisting he was “following the science” 6 years ago and you dare not question him, it turns out his behavior was indeed criminal… or at least enough to have something to hide. This morning it was an honor to meet with @GregAbbott_TX, @AndyHopperTX, and @Schoolcraft4TX to talk about a number of important issues facing Texas, including sharia and data centers. Our discussion regarding some of our ideas to defend Texas against sharia was very insightful. It was also encouraging l to hear about the progress of the Governor’s lawsuit with the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) following his official designation of CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorist organizations. Also, the Governor gave us an excellent report on the data center developers’ compliance with his recent guidelines and guardrails and the effective pause on data center development until the legislature can address the issue next session.

It was a pleasure to meet with @GregAbbott_TX this morning along with @brentmoney and @schoolcraft4tx to prepare for the upcoming session! We discussed how to advance conservative policy and our RPT Legislative Priorities, particularly defending Texas against sharia. Very encouraged by the status of the lawsuit with CAIR which will pave the way for Texas to treat criminal terrorist organizations as such. We also discussed data centers and the importance of ensuring that our grid, our water, and our rural land is protected. Texans should not bear the direct or indirect costs of these facilities. Recently, a data center in Henderson County withdrew their application once these requirements were made clear, and we need to hold the line going forward. I am looking forward to continue fighting for our conservative values in the 90th session!

@clareanneath published a story with the @dcexaminer last week revealing that a Scottish schoolteacher was fired after she was asked by students about her views on abortion. She answered by saying that they didn't have to agree with her opinion. Yet she was fired - a decision that was at odds with Scottish law. Now, she's suing the school. This is yet another story coming out of the U.K. that reveals just how far removed they are from their western heritage.

People in the 1950s weren’t eating steaks. Just ask your grandparents. They were eating spam, canned sardines, and bologne. “But they could buy houses!” You could too on spam and bologne. But you’re using DoorDash and eating out 5x per week. @sircalebhammer’s show displays this value clearly. People have plenty of resources.
