Ah so they do attribute sources! When israel says they’re bombing a Hezbollah tunnel, it’s reported as fact. When the Gaza health ministry says israel has killed Palestinians, attribution is a priority in the headline: “according to X”. Double standards destroys reputation.

The Committee to Protect Journalists has announced a full review of its death toll of Gaza-based journalists after it removed 20 names from its list. The CPJ cited how eight names were reportedly Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) combatants, while another 12 were removed for “other reasons”. CPJ said it removes names from its database if “subsequent evidence” shows they were not journalists or media workers, were not active in those capacities at the time of their deaths, or were engaging in combat. CPJ said it expected its review to be completed in July. However, reports have now emerged that the CPJ board of directors will also formally change its definition of who qualifies as a journalist. Posting on X, Palestinian journalist and author Mohammed El-Kurd said was aimed at excluding killed Palestinian and Lebanese journalists who worked for government-funded media outlets. Despite this, Israeli, American, and Ukrainian journalists who work for state-funded outlets or are embedded with the military will reportedly remain recognised as journalists.

Tonight, the government brought to the Knesset plenum a law which would officially prohibit the Red Cross from visiting Palestinian prisoners in Israeli torture camps. MK Galit Distel-Atbaryan of the Likud party, the author of this law, admits publicly that if the red cross visited Palestinian prisoners, it would be a PR disaster for the state of Israel. The government knows very well that the moment any humanitarian organization sees the marks of torture and inhumane conditions on the Palestinian prisoners, thousands of whom are detained without charge or justification, the facade will crumble. The world will know the cruelty that this government has facilitated. Therefore, they must cover their tracks. Unfortunately for the government, it can't hide its crimes against humanity forever. I am proud to say that we successfully voted down this law. Now, I call for the immediate facilitation of humanitarian visits to Palestinian detainees by the Red Cross. Take a stopwatch and start counting. The time for truth is on its way.

Soon-Shiong said she was informed Monday that she is no longer a CPJ board member. 🔹An internal CPJ email shared with Drop Site calls reports that the organization plans to change its definition “false allegations” and “untrue.” It says the review, led by CPJ’s Middle East and North Africa team, is focused on its documentation of journalists killed in the Israel-Gaza war after some individuals previously listed as journalists were later determined to have been combatants, and is expected to be completed in July. CPJ publicly announced that it had removed 20 names from its list of Palestinian media workers killed by Israel after 8 were given obituaries by militant groups. Another 12 were removed for undisclosed reasons.

It's also with remembering that Boris changed the rules so that British citizens living abroad could remain on the electoral register for life. Previously there was a 15 year limit.
