@dampedspring@dampedspring people are probably talking trash but you’re right on these way more often than wrong. Appreciate that you’re public with these.
@b_d_fund Thanks for the support. I should have built everything in python. I tried php, css, JavaScript combo because I thought it would be “fun to learn”. Mistake
New GPT model is very disappointing.
As I’m working on things, if I get stuck I save the task, then get back to it right after a new model comes out. 90% of the time the new model helps resolve my issue.
GPT5 is 0/6.
@b_d_fund It seems like a few people at OpenAI went rogue so their friends wouldn’t get laid off from their tech jobs. Only explanation I can think of for how bad it is
$LKQ is down 19.5% after reporting earnings. Guidance cut and adjusted earnings miss. Net Income and Revenue down yoy. But the CEO did buy ~$100k a few months ago (4/25/2025)!
$100k is enough to be a positive signal in a lot of cases. Investors could have avoided getting exited about this. The larger model rated this transaction as neutral. For the specific industry, based on price action, insider net worth, economic conditions, and clustering metrics the larger model determined that this wasn't anything special.
There is no paywall yet, so if a company you are following has insider buying activity. It's worth a quick check to see what the model says. "Bullish" should confirm your excitement. "Neutral" is the model's way of saying it can't determine if the buying is positive or negative.
A reminder that the model does not use any fundamental data about the company, so it can be used as an independent check.
@alphaarchitect Congrats dude, awesome to see what you’ve put together over the past couple years. Know you’ve been working on it for a long time but you’re really hitting your stride
@brianfires Hey I publish an insider buying model that is really good with biotech, since there have been so many good and bad companies to train the model on. Can be more confident when the insiders are taking meaningful stakes in the companies
Another quick victory lap. in January, seven insiders bought $GRYP including the CEO and CFO. 6/7 transactions scored well in the simple model and 4/7 flagged bullish in the larger model.
The insiders bought at $0.39, it's currently trading at $1.46
At the time of the purchases, Gryphon was a "renewable" bitcoin miner that had no reasonable path to profitability other than bitcoin having a massive move higher.
On May 12, Gryphon announced a stock-for-stock merger with American Bitcoin (Eric and Don Jr Trump's company).
The larger model picks up a lot of companies that are basically worthless. If the prospects improve just slightly, they can go from worthless to almost worthless which can translate to a very large move upward in the equity.
Disclosure: had a position, don't anymore, see website for full disclosure
Little victory lap: The model flagged $PRME in may. Three insiders including the CEO Allan Reine bought at $1.13-$1.18 (filed on 5/22) and PRME closed at $4.54 yesterday.
The purchases were not huge but they met several criteria for the simple scoring model and flagged bullish for the larger model. Specifically the % of estimated net worth and several of the buying regularity pattern metrics.
There are several other biotechs with insider buying that is flagging positive however they are under $100M market cap so I am not going to post about them.
Please read the disclaimer on the website I am taking positions in these and currently have a position in PRME
@b_d_fund The model really likes when companies are down more than 35% before an insider buy. It did flag John Hess (director at Goldman Sachs) buy filed on April 17 as bullish, $GS is up ~20% since then
$HAIN had another insider buy filed last week that flagged positive. 6 directors have bought following HAIN's horrible earning report a few weeks ago. All scoring high in the general scoring model and flagging bullish in the larger model.
All 6 buys have been well above the threshold for purchase size as a percentage of net worth to score well in the general model (ranging from .7% to 5% of estimated net worth). Purchases above 0.35% of estimated net worth give a positive contribution to expected returns in the larger model across all industries.
Looking for a beat down specialty packaged foods company? Hain Celestial Group $HAIN had very strong insider buying last week.
Below is an image of the buying over the past ~2 years. You'll notice that the buying May 12-15 were much larger purchases than historical (all over
