Ahead of 'Fields first pre-season fixture away at Treowen Stars AFC tomorrow, we caught up with First Team Manager Danny Janes to hear his thoughts for the opening test: "The squad are ready for our pre-season fixtures now after seven consecutive training sessions. The sessions have been fantastic in terms of both the environment and the quality. The players have been outstanding with their commitment, focus and intensity, but they're ready for the games now. We've spoken to the players about the objectives for pre-season so they approach each game with the right mindset. We want to develop their understanding of how we want to play, while also experimenting with different systems, partnerships and combinations. I also hope we face challenges during these games, as we need to experience problems so we can analyse them and find solutions. Of course, match fitness and sharpness are important, but the tactical side is our main focus heading into these fixtures. I'll also be reminding the players of the importance of the fundamentals that underpin every performance. Tactics and systems mean very little if the performance isn't built on energy, work rate and competitiveness. The supporters can expect to see some very, very good players on show tomorrow.
