Today, the first milestone test of Golden Dome for America (GDA) was a full mission success — and I was honored to witness it firsthand. Cutting edge directed energy was harnessed and the Dynamic Defense Autonomous Defeat (DDAD) system flawlessly and autonomously cued, targeted, and eliminated a multitude of incoming threats. This test was executed on schedule — and dynamically defeated every threat. I watched our elite warfighters integrate with next-generation technology to stop incoming drones and cruise missiles dead in their tracks. Traditional Primes and emerging Primes are competing, collaborating, and winning—delivering on President Trump’s priority. This historic milestone was only made possible by the One Big Beautiful Bill—giving us the funding to deliver on the ultimate shield to protect America. President Trump is making President Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) vision a reality. With Golden Dome, the War Department will defend our homeland more powerfully than ever before. Department of War Restores U.S. Pacific Command Designation. CAMP H.M. SMITH, Hawaii — The Department of War announced today that the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) will officially restore its name to the U.S. Pacific Command (USPACOM). Originally established on January 1, 1947, by President Harry S. Truman, the command operated under the USPACOM banner for over 70 years, standing as the oldest and largest of the United States' unified combatant commands. Restoring the legacy USPACOM designation honors the command’s deep historical roots, fostering a sense of pride and collective spirit among all who serve in the Pacific. From its critical role in establishing the post-WWII regional security architecture to its coordination of joint forces during the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and countless humanitarian operations, the USPACOM namesake carries decades of military heritage and enduring regional partnerships. Excellent meeting yesterday with @DanielNoboaOk to discuss our robust bilateral defense relationship and the joint fight against narcoterrorists.  Ecuador is a strong A3C partner and is advancing vital efforts to dismantle narcoterrorists.

Yesterday, I welcomed Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto to the Pentagon. We reaffirmed the strength of the bilateral defense relationship between the United States and Italy and agreed on the urgent need for NATO allies to increase defense spending, expand defense industrial production, and field combat-credible military forces.

Earlier this week, the @DeptofWar — in full collaboration with Venezuelan security forces — conducted a kinetic strike on a Tren de Aragua (TdA) compound in Venezuela. TdA founder & leader Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, aka “Niño Guerrero,” was confirmed killed during the strike. The operation underscores the shared U.S. and Venezuelan commitment to take the fight to narco-terrorists and deny them any safe haven in our hemisphere. We will continue to work closely with security partners, like Venezuela — and counties in the Americas Counter Cartel Coalition (A3C) partners — to take the fight to our enemies.

America faces real threats from foreign adversaries, terrorists, cyber actors, and hostile intelligence services. Section 702 remains one of our nation’s most effective tools for identifying and disrupting those threats before they reach our shores. The bipartisan Senate reauthorization strengthens both security and civil liberties by adding new safeguards, increasing transparency, expanding congressional oversight, imposing criminal penalties for misuse, and enhancing protections for Americans’ constitutional rights. Democrats are choosing to halt action on reauthorization, undermining national security and putting politics ahead of the safety of the American people. At a time of growing threats around the world, Congress should be strengthening the tools that protect our nation—not weakening them. We call on Senator Schumer and Senator Warner to bring Senate Democrats back to the table with Senate Republicans and pass this critical piece of legislation. Reauthorizing Section 702 is about protecting Americans’ privacy and protecting Americans’ security. We can—and must—do both.
