Throughout her distinguished career, Prof. Dr. Habr-Gama inspired generations of surgeons and researchers through her dedication to science, education, and patient care. Very proud to see this student-led project from Ankara University published in Surgery. Special congratulations to my colleague Dr. Utku Çelik (@s_utkucelik), who led this work with great dedication and vision. It has been a real pleasure to contribute to and support this journey together with such an enthusiastic young team. Our national survey among general surgeons explored the current knowledge, utilization, expectations, and concerns regarding AI in surgery. The study highlights both the excitement surrounding AI and the need for structured education, ethical frameworks, and responsible integration into surgical practice. The future of surgery will be shaped not only by technology, but also by the young physicians and students who are willing to question, produce, and lead.
