@mayavarathaan @HDFC_Bank @TRAI @ICICIBank is worse. My home branch staff call from random mobile nos peddling loans, cards, etc. despite being regd in DND as per @TRAI rules. TRAI is a useless regulator, with no power or intent to prevent harassment of subscribers by business entities.

@talk2anuradha True. But since we continue to follow British era civil service, laws, etc. in India 'public servants' in reality means person who is entitled to use public as his/her servant. Applies to politicians, Govt officials, judges... everyone.

@BesuraTaansane AFAIK, TTEs are Central Govt employees and transferable anywhere in India. So, if a non-local TTE is on duty, speaking in Hindi/English should be fine. Most language chauvinists have never lived outside their home State, so don't know how difficult it is to learn new languages.

@IndiaHistorypic True. Even the House-listing census survey was a mess. Those deputed by ECI were poorly trained. Even after I'd done self-enumeration on the portal and gave the person the ID I received by SMS/Email, he kept asking Qs from his questionnaire. Had to stop him and ask him to leave.

@InvestRepeat @arindam___paul BLDC fans are overhyped. While they consume less electricity they cost 2-3 times regular fans. Besides, BLDC fans tend to slow down over 3-4 years. The Atomberg fan I had bought ~4 years ago now runs mostly on speed levels 4 or 5 (max speed).

@TRAI Financial institutions are supposed to make calls from 1600 Nos only for service or transaction-related matters, but often some FIs make marketing/promo calls from such nos, forcing people to block these nos. @TRAI must take this up with @RBI to enforce this policy more strictly.

@DrDeepakKrishn1 The lady doctor is a dalit, so probably got the MBBS seat under quota system with much less marks, and got job too under quota system. But think of the male doctor beaten up, whom everyone has conveniently forgotten about. Outrage over lady doctor but none for male one. Why so ?

@DrDeepakKrishn1 Bribery and corruption in India at all levels of Govt is so rampant and deep-rooted that no matter what process or ID Govt provides citizens, illegal immigrants will procure it thru touts with fake / forged documents, as they do for Aadhar. Corruption beats every system created.

@bsnl_care No thanks. I struggled with a BSNL Prepaid SIM for ~2 months and when I realized that I don't get 4G signal 95% of the time, I discontinued using it. BSNL too promptly stopped signal completely on SIM, though it's not even a month since I discontinued using it after last recharge

@DrDeepakKrishn1 Govt of India should've completed a nation-wide NRC to weed out non-citizens, and provide bona fide citizens with an ID (like Aadhar No) with key details of the citizen. This Citizen Card should suffice as proof of citizenship, ID, address, etc. preferably with a microchip too.

@iamankitpande My thumb rule is to never give money to strangers no matter how desperate they seem. To help, always fulfill their material needs yourself, like food if hungry, ticket to return home, etc. Scammers feed off empathetic people so better not fall for such sob stories and offer cash.

@U_pasana Bangladeshis & Rohingyas get "Aadhaar on arrival" (like "Visa on arrival") and leech off the Indian State. But bona fide citizens of India have to run from pillar to post to prove they are Indian citizens for all sorts of reasons. Mera Bharat Mahaan !

@tehseenp I wish the Supreme Court barred the Govt from forcing people to buy "adulterated" petrol. Govt should give people the option of buying "unadulterated" petrol even if at a higher price, but denying it totally is autocratic. India is not at war to enforce such extreme measures.

@kushal_mehra Indian media almost always uses 'rule' for a party's Govt, be it in Union Govt or State Govt. i.e. BJP rule, INC rule, etc. But in the USA, media always refers to incumbent Govt as "<President's Name> Admin", never 'rule'. The nomenclature often defines the intent and perception.

@ANI Host countries appeased Modi during his first two terms as PM, with a diaspora event during his visit. But, in his 3rd term, he settles for nothing less that the host country's highest civilian award, as he's probably too shy to nominate himself for Bharat Ratna, unlike Nehru :-)

@RajeevRC_X @Meta But why did the Modi Govt (of which you were a Minister too once) not raise objections to 'username' feature rolled-out by other messaging Apps like @telegram years ago ? Was Govt sleeping or clueless, despite #Telegram being used for leaked exam papers too, among other things ?

@sumanthraman His dilemma will be, some of his Ministers canvassed / influenced youth thru their social media blitzkrieg to vote for TVK in recent Assembly polls, so it would be hypocrisy to tell them to stay away from SM now. But then, hypocrisy is the bedrock of politics :-)

@timesofindia While India has good ties with Israel, it needs USA's liberal backing, esp in UNSC to veto all the anti-Israel resolutions brought there. Besides, USA gives it tons of military equipment which enables it to fight its 'enemies'. No other country can provide it such support.
