Right skewed is X-bar > M, bc mean chases the tail. Left skewed is X-bar < M, bc mean chases the tail. X-bar ~ M is approximately normal.
Random sampling reduces bias in sampling, larger sample size reduces variation & blocking reduces confounding variables in experiments.
Wow... a lot of you did not hand in hmwk for U6 and/or CW. Please get to me by tmrw for late even though 1-3-5 block - you do get lunch!
27% of U did not hand in Pass the Pigs Activity - Really - Really! U 27% have until tmrw for up to 70% credit. Otherwise 0% will stand.
Get registered for your AP Exams by Friday... and, extra credit opportunity is really due on Friday. Do NOT skip Friday - u have next week!
3rd hr & 4th hr absences did not receive Random digit tables or crossword today due to NO class 3rd hr, can get from back table or tomorrow.
Simulation Pjct is due this Fri 3/14 for 10% bonus; otherwise, due on time T 3/25 after break. Random digit tables sitting on my back table.
And, one last item... remember - spring forward this wknd, so get some rest!
Do not forget that your simulation project is due before break. U need to place info on 1/2 or 1/4 sheet of poster board. Ex on Monday.
Ok-Ok - I am heading to Mardel's today so I can get some Scrath-n-Sniff stickers for these quizzes, bc they will be that good :-)
Remember that u have 10 problems from each chapter and 15 r required to get your bare minimum score of 15/15. Please make good decisions...
Hey kiddos. We r canceling the Skittles Activity due to ice storm, but if we r in school W, then we will quiz on Th over Ch 18, 19 & 20.
'A engineer, a chemist, and a statistician are working in a lab when a fire beaks out in a wastebasket. ...' ow.ly/thI7Y
I am so proud of both classes today. I think U ALL r getting this stuff! Feels good - huh. Mrs. Cundy said U ALL r smart :-)
Remember... EC incinitive worth 5 points if you hand in your portfolio this Friday by 3:30pm. Or E(Your Grade + 5) w/ just SD(Grade) :-)
BIAS is bad! we reduce BIAS by randomization - remember - we cannot eliminate! We reduce sampling variability by many and larger samples.
Sampling variability is not bad; it is natural differences btwn random samples when computing the same statistic for a sampling distribution
To study for MC test for tmrw, go over APMC #1 and #2 and maybe read the "what goes wrong" at the back of chapters. Oh, and finish hmwk!
Wow, the ones who did Redo hmwk did a good job-uhm... helped on your test-huh! If you did not hand in hmwk, then please do so tmrw...
last one... If u build probability model, then calculate E(X)=xipi and SD(X). If given N( ) info, then do big enchilada alg like QZ #3.
