Morgan Stanley: “Optical Content Growing. Regardless of Architecture.” Morgan Stanley’s latest optical report pushes back on the idea that the CPO vs. NPO debate changes the broader demand trajectory for optical content. The core argument is that investors may be over-indexing on architecture timing, while the more important variable remains bandwidth growth. Whether the market ultimately scales through pluggable optics, NPO, CPO, OBO, or hybrid architectures, the need for higher bandwidth should continue to drive more optical engines, lasers, and related content per GPU/rack. The report acknowledges that CPO adoption has meaningful timing and execution uncertainty. Packaging complexity, lower yields, troubleshooting difficulty, ecosystem immaturity, and customer reluctance around serviceability all remain real constraints. That is why Morgan Stanley frames the current debate less as a question of whether optics wins and more as a question of when and through which architecture the industry scales. Importantly, the report still points to optical content rising materially as AI networks move from current architectures toward copper/CPO hybrid and eventually fuller CPO configurations. Morgan Stanley estimates optical engines per GPU increase substantially across each step of that architecture transition, with the demand driver tied less to a specific design choice and more to the underlying bandwidth requirement. The market reaction in optical names appears to reflect concern that slower CPO timing could delay the upside case. Morgan Stanley’s framing is more balanced: conservative assumptions on CPO timing may keep stocks away from the most aggressive bull cases for now, but the underlying content expansion remains intact. For $LITE, $COHR and $GLW, the debate is not whether AI infrastructure requires more optics, but how quickly that demand converts into revenue as architectures evolve.

I spend hours studying relative strength than headlines. Follow me if you want a daily view of where leadership is showing up. Most traders on X ask: "What should I buy?" A better question imo: "What is refusing to break down in the current market?" Structure first. Story second.

@Realfinancial2 Neither because I don't have enough information yet. Right now, the price is testing at previous high and there is tigh consolidation. If it break and makes a higher high, that would give me more confidence. You should mention the time frame, volume as well.

$ASML is roughly 24% above its breakout area Now let's see if the leadership continues. One thing I have noticed with strong leaders like ASML is that after a breakout, they usually do one of two things: Continue higher Pause and build a new consolidation I'll be paying close attention to the quality of that next consolidation. Watchlist, not buy list.

@PittBullTrading The part that interests me most is the consolidation near highs. $MLI has spent months building a range between roughly 108–110 and 140–142. price is back testing the upper end of that structure. When strong stocks strat tightening, Leadership comes out of the shadows.

Jack, $AMD has been appearing on my watchlist With Semiconductors and Semiconductor Equipment showing up among the strongest industry groups, I'm paying close attention to whether leadership continues to expand across names like $AMD, $TSM and $ASML. Relative strength tends to matter most when the market is selective.

Thanks for sharing Yanay. The theme is what makes it interesting. When $SNOW, $DDOG and $MDB are all holding up, it becomes more than a single stock story. In an uptrend under pressure, I'm still staying selective, but group strength is usually where I start looking for leadership first.

I Agree. Most A+ setups come from A+ groups. A clean chart is good, but when multiple names from the same industry start showing relative strength, that's when I pay attention. Recently I've been seeing strength cluster in Semiconductor Equipment ($AEHR, $AMKR, $KLAC) and Data Storage ($WDC, $STX).

@ThePath2Profit Discipline becomes much easier when I separate watchlists from action lists. Plenty of charts can be interesting without being actionable. Agree?

@NickSchmidt If I had to pick one, $KEYS would probably be on the shortlist. One of the price action sctrutures on my watchlist right now, but the bigger challenge I feel is staying selective if the market sentiment remains mixed.

That's an important shift. Also, when leadership narrows, I start looking harder at industry level strength rather than broad market themes. If the breadth improves while AI cools off, the next leaders may come from groups most traders aren't watching yet. Do you agree @ConnorJBates_ ?

Whats stands out to me is that $AMKR spent nearly a month digesting gains near the highs instead of giving them back. A lot of stocks can break out but only few of those can stay tight once the excitement fades.

I've realized the majority of my profits have never come from buying the breakout itself. It's come from buying the pullback after the breakout. Almost every trade I take starts with a stock coming out of a large base. I'm talking about names that have spent months, and
