Alex Cooper @SnoringDad

@colinsutton Some of the comments on that thread might also be interesting lines of enquiry 🤣

@NorfolkPolice Apparently you don’t have powers to stop an illegal rave in Little Snoring from happening, keep everyone awake since 00:30. There is no situation where this is acceptable. @NorfolkPCC @NorthNorfolkDC @NorfolkCC @EDP24

@colinsutton Thanks to all - norfolk.police.uk/news/norfolk/n…

@colinsutton Thank you for looking into this. I spoke to one of the traffic officers blocking the entrance: he said illegal raves are absolutely a police matter, and the riot squad would be turning up within the hour. He was right. We have silence 19 hours after the inconsiderates started!

@ Music still ongoing.

FAO @JeromeMayhew - so you are aware of this

Spoke to two officers, leaving their night shift. They had to get an ambulance in for a person at the rave but hope to have it closed down “some time today”. How is this even possible?!

And at 6.43 am it’s still going.

ust been told by the officers on the scene in little snoring that they are trying to wake up their superiors to come up with a plan. In what world can the police not shut down an unregistered music event? @NorfolkPolice @EDP24 @Telegraph @reformparty_uk @NorfolkPCC

Just been told by 101 that this is a matter for @NorthNorfolkDC or @NorfolkCC - in what world are they going to do anything about that in the early hours of Sunday morning?! Unacceptable for those of us who work in the mornings @NorfolkPolice @EDP24 @NorfolkPCC

@TLRailUK Perhaps tell your drivers to tell your customers?! I don’t want to submit a complaint that, frankly, you don’t care about…..consider this thread a formal complaint.

@TLRailUK I don’t imagine there is much you can do now. You defo need to communicate better. Or just open doors for people at the stations we crept through so people can make alternative arrangements.

@TLRailUK It was the 11.21 from Cambridge.

@triffic_stuff_ @SimonDudleyUK - where do you stand?

@triffic_stuff_ @grok is this true?

@sitsio Great pic.

@Matt_Pinner Some actual colour on those grilled items.

@PartTimePilgrim @BruvverEccles @sitsio @RCEastAnglia There are plenty in Norfolk but the Shrine has made most of them redundant. And now seems to be hiring again….😖 Commercial acumen and strategic HR seem not to be the charisms of the Walsingham Trust.

I would add that after nearly 2 years of autocratic leadership to turn the place around, this has not occurred. Could it be that perhaps a different approach is needed? Maybe one that is first centred on real spiritual revival coupled with bringing in an entrepreneurial team that actually is experienced in real world commercial turnarounds. The CBCEW has nothing more to lose.

Father Steven, you are spot on. Having lived locally for the last 7 years, the Trust had every opportunity to avoid this sad state of affairs, both spiritually and organizationally. Many constructive solutions have been offered. I pray for the day that the Trust come to their senses and realise school groups are the future: children are the future of the church in spiritual terms; commercially it makes sense as one school group books out Elmham House and its typically subsidised unlike the dying breed of parish groups. Nowhere is the importance of this rebirth more poignant than in Walsingham, once on par with Jerusalem and Santiago, visited by our Kings and Queens, before Henry VIII triggered centuries of persecution on the One True Faith. Competent people repeatedly offered to help extract the Trust from years of mismanagement and decline, only to be rebuffed. Experienced staff were “asked to leave” under the pretense of cost-cutting, yet the same roles are now being advertised at higher salaries. Local talent has been systematically dismissed, told they’re unwanted, or unceremoniously shown the door. This has destroyed any remaining goodwill in the community, especially as the Trust was such a large local employer. Consequently, no qualified candidates will relocate from major cities to rural Norfolk for these positions. It’s akin to a diabetic refusing insulin while preferring to cure the condition by eating more donuts. I can reassure you, Deacon Tom, that Matthew 18’s process for addressing conflict has been exhausted. Private confrontation was attempted; “witnesses” were brought. We are now at step 3, if not 4, of Christ’s mandate. Remaining silent about such spiritual rebellion would be unconscionable—the same silence that enabled previous church scandals to fester unchallenged. I don’t say any of this because I want to bring the Trust down or bring the shrine into disrepute - it’s already done that itself. The fact that you, Father, are posting this is testament to that. I say all of this because I am a faithful Catholic who wants the shrine to succeed. I want young people in this country to visit the shrine so that Catholicism - i.e., Christ’s established church on earth - has a rebirth in this country. The martyrs did not die for a 1980s barn which has manoeuvred itself to a point it can’t handle the future of the faith, our children.
