Do you see an issue with setting the precedent to give a handful of companies access to smarter models before their competitors/ the rest of the world? My fears: It’s not as a big of a deal with 5.6, but I’m thinking about when we have vastly more capable models. The “country of geniuses in a data center” or whatever. It’s hard not to feel like if that existed today we (the general public) would never get access to it. I think there needs to be transparency in both how the trusted access program works and who is selected, with clear standards for acceptance. I also think the same transparency is needed on how the government is regulating models. If vastly capable models are going to be held from the public, there needs to be clear standards that the model has to be failing, with 3rd party oversight to verify. (To stop a government from restricting a powerful model for their own use when in reality the model is safe) I don’t think I have all of the answers and I know this is a hard problem, these are just some ideas.

@rackSpreader1 Lots of reasons. A job is a job. Adds experience to the resume. You’ll make connections and meet the right people. Overall though I think we need more people building things. I’d try to pursue research in your free time or find ways to incorporate it into your work if possible.
